Off-Campus Dining: There's a mall nearby but its hard to get you, and only a few places deliver.

Administration: University police is very nice and friendly and the rules are enforced pretty well.

Scholarships: The financial aid process was a little difficult and the office was very unorganized but I eventually got the aid I needed.

Administration: They are strict on things that aren't as important.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: Nice surrounding town with variety of housing options

4 College Senior

Majors: I love what I do and I naturally fell in to a major through the classes that were available to me.

2 College Senior

Scholarships: Always a process to make sure money was ready in time for registration.

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: Lots of variety around the town.

Health & Safety: Plenty of police on campus.

Local Area: The surrounding area of my school is actually a very nice area. However, leaving campus tends to be difficult for students who reside on campus. Leaving campus is difficult because transportation is never on time and runs very slowly. If a residing student does decide to leave campus there is a shopping mall, various food places, and a movie theater about a half of a mile away from campus. There is also a train station close by which could take students into New York City which offers many activities.

Campus Quality: It's a SUNY school so I guess it's ok

3 College Senior

Campus Quality: We don't have spring fling and things like that but we have a lot of free events

3 College Senior

Campus Food: It's okay just like you would expect from any campus

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: When ever we need a help from police department, they are there for our safety.

4 College Junior

Athletics: I can only say one thing about it which is it is great to have almost 5 different sports and have access to play any of them for free. I love it.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Around the school area, there are a lot of restaurants or fast food place for almost every culture.

3 College Junior

Campus Food: I usually do not eat in school , but according to my friends who eat constantly in school say, " You do not want to eat pizza from dinning hall" :)

2 College Junior

Weather: Last huge snow storm we had was bad. It took while for them to clean parking lots and the condition of the roads were inconvenience. However, school did their best to assure us the best.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: Housing around the campus is great. The maximum distance to school is about 15 minutes which is great. It safe and convenience.

3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: There are student about 10 different countries and they all bring their culture , lifestyle and etc. I think that is awesome to see and meet with different cultures. Instead of reading about them, you live with them.

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: I have only seen it couple times around school and some of the students were stinking in classroom.

4 College Junior

Technology: We have about 10 computer labs where every student can find space and appropriate computer or any other device for his/her work to be completely done. I think that you do not have to bring your computer to school unless you have your all work saved in your computer and you want to continue from there. School has high speed internet and every computer lab has at least 1 or more printers.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: no peer pressure, hardly any bust ups

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

The professors at SUNY Old Westbury can be helpful and are more than experienced in their fields. Miscommunication can be an issue among students, though, so a little more organization would go a long way in students avoiding frustration and even contempt. Classes are hard but manageable, but most students are able to apply knowledge gained from previous courses and succeed.

The personal level of interest the school takes in students could be better. The registration process must be streamlined and a set system should be established to increase the speed of the process. Otherwise, everyone is very helpful, especially financial aid.
