Campus Housing: There are always some events going on on campus

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: There are a lot of dorming opportunities available. Many people chose to dorm in the beginning years and have a great experience doing so. It is a great way to make friends and meet new people on campus.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I believe St. John's has a lot of culturally-positive experiences that aid students in finding themselves and developing as a person. Between diverse student population, extracuricular activities, and research opportunities, it is really easy to find your niche at St. John's.

Athletics: Our school has a very high following for basketball. The students are consistently attending basketball games in the custom Student Section and showing their school spirit. We also have RedZone committees along with several others that are in charge of school spirit, who hand out props to use during games and are also useful in everyday life.

Campus Housing: the dorms here do not live uo to the anount of money that goes into them. it is also uncomfortable to sleep in a bed that is to small for the people. living on campus is nice because you do not have to travel far just to get to class, and the people you can meet in your dorm can become good friends for your time here at school.

Greek Life: some of the greek clubs are out of control and do some shady things. but they do activities to help the community

3 College Freshman

Athletics: people go to sporting events when it is conveniet for them

Overall Experience: The job opportunities are incredible, and the organizations here are world class in my opinion. the only bad thing is the food, but that is a little problem that is not serious at all

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: Public safety is an active presence on campus, they ensure that everyone feels safe.

Athletics: Our basketball team is highly renowned. We just hired Chris Mullen as the men's head coach. Other sports on campus are actually much better than our mens basketball team, but does not get the same recognition.

Health & Safety: Public Safety is always driving around to make sure that everything is okay and if something does happen we get texts, calls and emails based on the incident

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: There are some professors that are hard to understand and do not teach a course correctly because they go off topic most of the time.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I'm a commuter I don't live on campus

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: Coming from diverse school the Greek life on campus is also diverse. Everyone knows who belongs to what sorority/ frat and they aren't snobby or think that they're the top notch of campus

4 College Freshman

Athletics: When it comes to game day everyone shows their school pride by wearing the clothing and colors of the school. The athletes you see everyday with their bags with the team they're on and you can tell how proud they are to be on a team.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: There is a lot to do on campus with clubs and events. The classes are small and teachers are able to pay attention to each student and care for them. It is easy to get help from tutors, advisors and teachers making the experiences okay so far.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: They constantly have public safety officers around campus, making sure everything is alright.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

St. John’s has its ups and downs, but most students agree, sometimes reluctantly, that the bad outweighs the good. Some argue that with the high tuition cost, students should receive better student services and facilities. The school’s motto is, “We are St. John’s,” but does the administration listen when students speak? The school needs more dorm rooms, better computers, and more people ready to help students instead of giving them the runaround or transferring their calls to someone else. These things are not luxuries, but rather necessities to keep the students and the institution running smoothly.

Going to St. John’s is a good experience, and the name only seems to impress many people, which is a good trademark to use in the workforce. The overwhelming majority of teachers cares about its students. Check out St. John’s extensively before attending to see if it can meet your needs, especially monetary-wise. In 1870, when St. John’s was founded by the Vincentian community, it was supposed to be an answer for the poor students who couldn’t afford schooling; now many feel SJU is making the students poor. The costs are going up each year, but the financial aid is basically staying the same, making it hard for students to attend because of the lack of funding. Explore it for yourself. There’s plenty to enjoy and benefit from, but don’t get caught up in hype.
