Health & Safety: I felt safe on campus but regardless things do happen off campus and that is on the students. Students need to be more cautious when walking around at night. Public safety needs to expand their range to pick students up if its late at night so that we can cut out any possible problems arising from a male or female walking back to campus at night.

Campus Housing: Honestly they need an upgrade like the kitchen area is horrible stove tops don't even work and some don't get hot. Elevators keep breaking and then we have to walk up flights of stairs and thats unacceptable. Laundry services need to be updated as well. The common areas need to be updated on the a/c units and windows. The trash areas always smell horribly and the odors always gravitate to the hallways.

Overall Experience: I love how my school has endless activities for you do enjoy. If you can think of they have it and if they don't you can make a club or group for it. I love that during the beginning of each semester they hold so many events for students to be involved.

Athletics: The atmosphere during football season is so enjoyable and fun. You walk around the campus and there is obvious loyalty shown and seen with the student body, alumni and fans. There is obviously school spirit if the season is going down hill. No matter what sport you go to see students are always rooting for their team.

Health & Safety: I always feel safe on campus. The accidents that do occur, are generally never on St. John's grounds but rather around the area when a person is walking alone.

Overall Experience: I like to first choose my professors from ratemyprofessors.com. I have always had a positive experience with all those with good ratings. I always feel like they try to help and teach me. Class sizes are fairly small with about 30 students in each class. I am also happy with the variety of courses offered. I feel like they build me up to find a long career.

Overall Experience: Career services is always encouraged among students. I know that the College of Risk Management and Insurance has a 100% job placement rate after graduation. The career fair on campus also opened me up to a variety of prospective companies and opportunities.

Athletics: St. John's is most popular for its Division I basketball team. Although the team does not always perform as well as we would love it to, the campus excitement for it is definitely apparent.

We also have a gym open to all students on campus that is widely used and almost always is about a quarter to half full.

Overall Experience: As a student that takes her work very seriously, I feel that St. John's University is the perfect fit for me. I have always felt encouraged my my professors as well as my peers, and I am proud to say I thrive here. Professors always try to tap into their students' inner potential and peers seem to want their peers succeed. I have met students from several different countries and ethnic backgrounds so I have learned a lot from being in a diverse environment.

I will always remember my theology teacher from my very first semester in college. I have never met a professor so motivated by his pure desire to teach, making his class my absolute favorite. I feel that St. John's is unique because I have explored several different subjects. Although I am a business major, I have still taken courses in philosophy and theology as a part of the university's core classes. Initially these courses may seem irrelevant to a business student's education, but I can happily say that they have also helped me grow as an individual and opened my mind to new concepts that can also be applied in business.

If I could apply to college all over again, I would definitely choose St. John's simply because I truly envision myself growing to be the best I can be at this university.

Overall Experience: You don't really get much for the large sum of money that you are paying to attend... I wish I went to school in state rather than coming here thinking I was getting a great deal because of the scholarship money I was receiving.

Overall Experience: My school has its moments of miscommunication and unreliability, but for the most part the school is very successful. It has made me love my major and helped me to make my mind up of what i wanted to do. It can be helpful, but has its moments.

Overall Experience: There are so many things I want to do but not enough time and everything lands on the same dates/times

Overall Experience: Beautiful campus... The social life here is pretty weak unless you're in a group... the food is somewhat OK... not many people stay here all four years

Overall Experience: As a resident there is not much happening. The campus is dead on the weekends because most commuters go home. There is usually only a few things going on and they get old quick.

Overall Experience: Unless your in greek life there is little to no social life. Especially if you are in a suite style living most people just communicate with people in their suites and never venture elsewhere. Its hard to meet people unless your meeting them online or Yik Yak which is just sad in general.

Overall Experience: Overall I really like going to college here ! The teachers are very nice and friendly and are willing to help their students if they needed it. They also offer great tutoring for many of your subjects! But be warned, you probably have to join a club or activity outside of class in order to make a few friends.

St. John’s has its ups and downs, but most students agree, sometimes reluctantly, that the bad outweighs the good. Some argue that with the high tuition cost, students should receive better student services and facilities. The school’s motto is, “We are St. John’s,” but does the administration listen when students speak? The school needs more dorm rooms, better computers, and more people ready to help students instead of giving them the runaround or transferring their calls to someone else. These things are not luxuries, but rather necessities to keep the students and the institution running smoothly.

Going to St. John’s is a good experience, and the name only seems to impress many people, which is a good trademark to use in the workforce. The overwhelming majority of teachers cares about its students. Check out St. John’s extensively before attending to see if it can meet your needs, especially monetary-wise. In 1870, when St. John’s was founded by the Vincentian community, it was supposed to be an answer for the poor students who couldn’t afford schooling; now many feel SJU is making the students poor. The costs are going up each year, but the financial aid is basically staying the same, making it hard for students to attend because of the lack of funding. Explore it for yourself. There’s plenty to enjoy and benefit from, but don’t get caught up in hype.
