5 College Sophomore

Academic Flexibility: Transferring credits from high school to SJRState was an extremely easy process. I had no problems at all. Class flexibility is also great and teachers are willing to work with your schedule too

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I love the small and community oriented atmosphere

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Some professors act like the student should have a lot of prior knowledge on the courses and some professors put in 110% of their time and effort to help the students succeed. The class sizes are small, which is really nice because it is more helpful during lecture. There are a variety of classes offered online and on campus.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: SJRState is a great college to work for an AA before transferring to work on a career but it also offers nursing and criminal justice classes

4 College Sophomore

Online Courses: I like taking online courses. They are great just be sure to research the professors who are teaching it. Some care and will put in as much effort that the students do and some put in minimal help and effort for the students and the class

4 College Sophomore

Student Body: There is a mixture of all sorts of people with different personalities at SJRState

3 College Sophomore

Tuition & Financial Aid: The average tuition was costly but also manageable.

3 College Sophomore

Career Services: I never had a post-grad experience with this school but I am assuming it is good because of my undergrad experience

4 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: I am just working on my AA degree because I am going to transfer after. But this school is a great stepping stone before transferring because they offer so many classes to choose from

3 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: The professors are willing to help with problems, the class registration was easy and simple, and the workload is average for a college student

4 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: The college is small so resources are very close to home and always there if you need help

College Senior

Online Courses: I did not take any online courses.

2 College Senior

Academic Flexibility: Scheduling my courses around my work schedule was not an issue. I transferred to St. John's from Jacksonville University and the office did not include several of my credits and had to go back and put through my transfer credits that were missing. I was told last spring I had completed everything in order to receive my AA degree and it was shown on the degree audit that everything was complete; but they made a mistake and I had to take five additional courses to receive my AA degree. Once I applied for graduation, nearly two months early, the office did not put my application through and I had to submit a new one two months later, resulting in receiving my AA degree late.

3 College Senior

Overall Experience: St. John's River State College was not my first choice as to where to go to school, but I did receive my AA degree from there. If I had the choice, I would not go to school there again because of the mistakes the guidance and admissions staff made along the way for me to receive my AA degree.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: All of the teachers I've had, especially math were more than helpful and I actually learned the material. Some are harder than others, and some classes have a higher workload than others, but the students learn what they need in order to actually pass the exams.

3 College Senior

Overall Experience: St. John's has a direct transfer program to the University of North Florida that puts students on the path he or she needs to go on to earn a Bachelor's degree at the university.

3 College Senior

Student Body: The student center in one of the main buildings was never empty; students constantly playing ping pong, pool, or eating from the grab and go station. The school is very diverse; students from many different backgrounds and education levels, and the military was involved, having pamphlets and recruiters in the student center every few months.

3 College Senior

Tuition & Financial Aid: The tuition itself was not bad, I had the Florida prepaid and did not have to pay much. I feel the books were extremely overpriced and the bookstore would not buy all of them back. The financial aid office was vague when speaking to me, and I did not fully understand everything they were telling me.

3 College Senior

Career Services: I'm not entirely aware of the post grad services at St. John's River State College.

3 College Senior

Academic Experience: The psychology courses were challenging, all in good ways, and I did learn. The teachers were very helpful if I had a problem understanding a topic and open to questions.

3 College Senior

Academic Experience: The class registration process was quick and simple, everything done by the student registering. The workload of all the courses I've taken wasn't overwhelming, but enough to where I had to really take time and complete it and complete it well.

3 College Senior

Campus Resources: The teachers take time to help, and are very open to help students as much as they can. The library and the staff and faculty in the library are extremely helpful, and it has everything a student would need to complete any assignment. The financial aid and guidance offices were not very helpful to me, they did not answer the majority of my simple questions because it wasn't their specialty.

4 Recent Alumnus

Campus Resources: They are open at convienent times for art students.

4 College Sophomore

Academic Flexibility: They let me take four classes and one high-school class even though they usually don't.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I love the activities here, it's the only time I talk to other students. I feel more confident in myself and my choice college. The professors let me doodle on their boards before class. My favorite memory is when I drew a dinosaur and the rest of the class requested stuff like a monocle and top hat. We named it businessman even though I was in a Florida heritage class.

St. Johns River State College is a great place to start your college experience. Students enjoy small class sizes, passionate teachers, and a quality education with a not-so-expensive tuition. The three campuses allow students to attend college at the location closest to them. Since St. Johns is located in the north central area of Florida, many students come from all over the state. Most come to St. Johns for the general associate degrees in the medical field or in the arts. St. Johns also offers bachelor’s degrees in medical, business, and education.

Many different class times are available to fit into the busiest of schedules. Most students work full time or part time and have children while attending SJR State. Students can participate in baseball, softball, student government, and many other student organizations. The recreational entertainment at St. Johns is for all students. Whichever campus, St. Johns has a lot to offer.
