Overall, I absolutely love Southern Arkansas University! Granted, Magnolia, AR is a small and is not a typical college town, but it just adds to the charm! Literally everybody I have encountered is so polite and welcoming. The classes are not too challenging if you study and prepare, but if you are struggling, the professors are willing to work with you. The professors know how to get along and goof off with the students, but they also make you work. There are opportunities to get involved on campus to compensate for the rural town too! The Mulerider Activity Center is open to all students and is a great way to spend free time! I am beyond blessed to have the opportunity to be a Mulerider!

The town doesn't seem like much at first, but that's the charm. Most of the places you will want to eat at you won't know about until you start. There are some amazing Mexican restaurants in town, but the best place to eat on a college kid's budget is Backyard BBQ. Not the franchise, this place makes everything but the buns from scratch, including home-made pies. A single meal can serve two people for very little money.

The Mules Cantina is the local fancy place to eat if you want to go on a date, but I prefer dining at Antigua's or Cancun's for the flavorful dip and Spanish foods. From what I have heard there is a little place called The Rails that is near the high school that serves amazing southern food as well.

Perhaps the best place though, is The Flying Burger. Their fries, burgers, shrimp, crab-legs, and even fish tacos are amazing beyond belief! For a small town, Magnolia has some amazing food places and they cost really cheap too, especially considering the high-quality food.

The people here a nice and some of the courses are really challenging, mostly the science courses; however, the basic requirements are easier than high school courses. Also, I run for the cross country and track team, and no one enjoys or respects the coach. My personal experience hasn't been great due mostly to my athletic experience at the college!
