Diversity: People are generally accepting of everyone on campus. I have not heard about intolerance too much.

Drug Safety: Some groups of people definitely use alcohol and weed, but if you do not want to partake no one treats you differently. There is little social pressure to conform in this way.

Overall Experience: So far all the professors I have had were very good. They had reasonable rules and expectations for their classes. The class sizes typically depends on your major and what class you are taking. There are some classes with 15 people and some with 100 people.

Health & Safety: Campus is generally safe as long as you are aware of your surroundings and remember to lock your windows and cars.

Greek Life: Greek life is pretty big here but if you don't join many are indifferent about your decision. It;s what best works for your situation.

Athletics: Athletics have good teams that go to nationals.

Overall Experience: I've liked a number of my professors, but been exhausted by more. The psychology professors at this school are most often off in their own heads, and they grade more on their (flip flopping) mood than any concrete rubric. As a straight A student, I can feel like I'm going crazy sometimes. That said, there are a few who stick out as being almost polar opposite: very student-focused, organized, and well-adjusted. Just try consistently getting them when the major's impacted...

Class scheduling is just a big mess in my opinion. Upper division coursework actually covers the topics you'd expect it to, though. I'm glad to finally learn valuable information. Classes are small, which a lot of people like, though this does encourage professors to do tons of group work and that's...not my favorite.

Psychology classes are always taught in a humanistic way. It's a humanistic psychology program. It doesn't matter if the topic's behaviorism, you'll learn it from a humanistic perspective. I honestly enjoy that.

Overall Experience: Most students are pessimistic about what a degree from our school means, and I can see why. But, honestly, if you think you're degree's going to do the work for you, you're looking at all colleges wrong. I've met a UCB graduate working at retail, and SSU graduate who was the executive director of a local social organization. You matter more than the school you graduate from.

Internships seem relatively easy to get at SSU. I accidentally got one by signing up for an autism class. That autism class' professor is still sending employment and internship opportunities by email.

Health & Safety: As a guy who never takes night classes, I don't feel unsafe on campus. But I know that my LGBT and female friends are worried about recent assaults. My lesbian and trans friends are particularly anxious, even during the day. They're critical of how the school treats rape on campus, and I can see why.

In an attempt to fix it all, the school had us do this online, anti-rape myth activity last year. The program had good content, but it was very cheesy looking, and I've heard that people purposefully messed with the program or otherwise treated it like a game.

Overall Experience: I chose this school because it's local, cheap, and is known for it's psychology programs. After attending, I'm not sure about my choice. SSU has a beautiful campus, great student residences, and a popular recreation center. That said, those things don't really influence my "college experience." I transferred from SRJC, and while my classes are definitely upper division now, the rest of this experience makes me feel like I downgraded. My professors are often scattered and difficult people to deal with. My classmates aren't exactly engaging. I'm trying to get myself into a good grad school, but honestly I just feel like I need to get this degree over with.

That said, there are two things that shine for me at SSU: (1) United Students for Success is a program you can access if you register with disability services. They have really interesting workshops, a computer lab, and tutors that help you with academic success. They also facilitate some social gatherings. (2) The student HUB for diversity, which seems to be growing.

Campus Housing: All I can say is that I have my own bedroom and bathroom with a toilet and shower. Also I have a living room with chairs and a couch next to my kitchen with a fridge dishwasher and oven. SONOMA STATE is always ranked in the top 25 best dorms in the country.

Overall Experience: The crown jewel of SSU is Weil Hall and is one of if not the best musical hall in the country. Opened in 2012 the student body is really coming into terms that this is a performing art music school with a growing number of music major students at Sonoma state who have classes in the Green Music Center. Also the Dorms are the best and the new Food Hall is super nice. I usually get all my classes and am happy to have such a close bond with my professors. SSU was the perfect choice for me.

Health & Safety: There's a police station on campus and is easily accessible from most places on campus. There are also emergency call places things all around campus. Usually at night, there is also cops from campus that drive around so I think overall, it's relatively safe.

Overall Experience: I feel comfortable in a small classroom and it is easy to talk to people and make study groups. The professors are good, if you get the right one that matches your style.

Overall Experience: There are always clubs outside of the student center attempting to recruit people and that's a good way to let others know of things we have on campus, apart from the first night-Big Nite.

Campus Housing: Honestly, I like how my specific village is, but I know that there should be better improvements for the other villages. Most people want to live in Sauvignon or Cabernet because of the kitchen and I don't think that Zinfandel and Verdot should not have kitchens because the food isn't that great at the cafeteria.

Personally, living in Cabernet is amazing and I'm glad I got to live here since it's so spacious and easy to make a home although it's really far from my classes.
