Party Scene: The wireless connection in the dorms can be sketchy and disconnects itself often, especially if you're living in the dorms farther from the center of campus. However, having free wireless virtually anywhere within the school boundaries is amazing and I often see people using their computers outside on the greens or by the lake. This school must cater to a generation of technology-based young adults who are impatient and needy, and I think it does a very good job at satisfying out needs. Parties happen every weekend on and off-campus, small ones within the dorms are easiest to attend because of the spacious dorms and close proximity.

Campus Food: We pay a generous amount for our meal plan. I wish they could afford better ingredients with the money we are contributing, better hot prepared food. Charlie Brown Café is famous for their amazing paninis and smoothies, which I end up at when there is little to nothing good at the Kitchens. However the staff is always friendly at the door, the ambiance and lighting is beautiful with the recent renovation of the entire Student Center where the Kitchens is located, and I feel taken care of when I eat there. Their coolest feature is the stir fry station where you build your own tasty Asian-infused bowl. The layout is perfect for large groups or solo dining, so you never feel uncomfortable.

Campus Housing: Most dorms here are apartment or townhouse style. Mine is apartment, and my favorite features are the big living/dining room that encourage roommates to come together and interact, and the small patio were you can enjoy that Cali sunshine. My bedroom is large and shared with only one other person, and we have two more suitemates. It is never overcrowded, there is plenty of closet and storage place for all of us, and there are no triple bedrooms squishing to squish people together. The dorms are definitely a main factor in my going here and I'm happy to live on campus were it is safe and comfortable.

Overall Experience: Despite what other's say, I would say that I really enjoyed being a student at Sonoma State. I had professors who were really supportive of me, which was a big reason to my academic success.

Academics: The learning environment at Sonoma State is great. You have support professors who are happy to help during their office hours as well as a tutoring center (free reservations). The curriculum is very well designed to help all students succeed. The only problem is budge cuts and the limit to 16 units / semester. This makes it hard to get into needed courses and graduate on time.

Academics: I would say that Sonoma State is designed to help students with academic success. There are services in place to help students with special needs. Professors are more than supportive and the workload is usually reasonable.

5 College Freshman

Campus Quality: Sonoma State has technically everything every college needs (e.g. computer labs, 3-story library, recreation center, and even a pond).

4 College Freshman

Majors: I'm a computer science major, and I would say that our department is very supportive of us. Our department chair always informs us about available internship positions. However, regarding curriculum, we could have some improvements. After our first course in Python Programming, we go directly into C++ (intermediate) and it is very hard for some students (myself included) to make the transition.

Majors: There are many internships available. Not only do you get paid, you can also learn from some internships (e.g. tutoring other students). I, personally, did not have an internship yet, due to time constraint.

4 College Freshman

Majors: Sonoma State offers almost every major that one can wish to pursue. However, due to budget cuts, we are limited to taking 16 units each semester (around 3~5 classes), and that really makes it hard for us to get the classes we need and graduate in 4 years.

Guys & Girls: Coming from a guys point of view, I find that there seems to be an equal amount of guys and girls. Nothing to special.

College Freshman

Athletics: Honestly, I wasn't part of any sports nor was any of my friends. Therefore I don't know much about it.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: Sonoma State University is predominately white with a somewhat large Latino minority. However, most students, staff, and faculty have socially liberal views and is very accepting to all.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: The food in the cafe is okay, but not "the best" either. You may be tired of it after a semester or so.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Sonoma State has one of the best housing services compared to all the CSU's and the UC's. The only problem a resident may come across is "Wi-Fi problems". The WiFi in the residential area is extremely slow and in some cases it will constantly drop. Other than that the residential areas offer residents a lot and is very safe.

4 College Freshman

Local Area: Rohnert Park is one of the safest areas for a college.

5 College Freshman

Party Scene: If you are looking for some partying.... You can always find some each night. However, the residential life community has some more strict rules during finals (something that I think that students would benefit from).

College Freshman

Greek Life: I honestly don't know much about Greek life... I'm not part of any sororities or frats.

5 College Freshman

Administration: We're in college, like seriously, and at Sonoma State you have the freedom to do what you want as long as you're not causing a problem for anyone else.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Located in a beautiful/safe city, Sonoma State University is very safe and crimes hardly ever happen on campus.

College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Honestly, I've stayed on campus for dining throughout my first year in college. There are a few fast food restaurants just across the street.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: As a part of the California State University (CSU), financial aid is usually offered to students who need it. Students who have a cumulative GPA above a 3.0 can apply for university scholarships.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Rohnert Park is a very nice city, but some housing can be extremely expensive.
