Party Scene: It's almost always under control and has a fun and positive impact.

4 College Junior

Party Scene: Not much to do in the village

4 College Junior

Party Scene: There are great parties off campus

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: The parties are good at first, but it's the same people doing the same things every weekend, and it just gets boring eventually.

Parties begin on Thursday in Slippery Rock. Local houses become filled with students seeking beer pong tournaments and kegs. Many students who are of age flock to the local bars, namely Ginger Hill and North Country Brewery. Watch out, though, because local bars close at 2 a.m. Students who like to get down on the dance floor can travel about 45 minutes south to Pittsburgh, where there are a variety of clubs. If you’re into line dancing and mechanical bulls, Ghostriders in nearby Butler opens its doors Friday and Saturday nights. If you have never stomped your boots to a country beat, line dancing lessons are offered for free before the all-ages party gets started. Just remember to B.Y.O.B. and bring proper ID to get past the bouncers.

While it’s true that SRU is not the party school it once was, things have been improving, and more nightlife venues are being considered by local officials. Now that Slippery Rock is a wet town, the nightlife is sure to get better.

What to Do if You're Not 21What's This?

All bars in and around Slippery Rock are 21 and up. If you go to Pittsburgh, you can find a few clubs that only require patrons to be 18 or older. Also, the fraternities around campus thrive off of young, male boozers who are willing to pay five dollars for unlimited access to their keg(s) during their parties-not such a bad deal really. Females, on the other hand, will normally drink for free. And, most of the time, there are off-campus parties to attend.
