Health & Safety: I have never once felt unsafe on campus but for anyone who does they have the safety lights/telephones all over campus that connect right to campus police. It is a great and safe campus.

Overall Experience: The classes and professors are really great here they care about your success at SRU. The class sizes arent to bad and there are many classes offered to suit any interest you may have.

Overall Experience: SRU is highly accredited especially for PT and Education and career services and alumni and very active in trying to help you get into the work force.

Campus Housing: The dorms are great, probably the best I have seen out of all the colleges I toured. Its also great that we having LLC's to group together majors.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: I don't think Greek life affects or doesn't affect social life here and non-Greeks and Greeks get along just fine.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: There is a lot of school spirit here and many fans that always go to all the sporting events especially the football and basketball games!

Overall Experience: Slippery Rock is very welcoming and the teachers and staff are wonderful! The only complaint is I'm so far away from home.

Campus Housing: The Dorms are on the newer side and are the perfect home away from home. Each room has individually controlled heating and cooling, carpeted floors, and drywall wall not cinder blocks! It makes it feel like a cozy space! Having your own bathroom in college is a blessing, you'll thank yourself for not getting a traditional dorm. The walls are paper thin though and you'll become very close to your neighbors beside, beneath, and above you since you'll hear everything they do. It's a good experience and you'll be very cozy.

Greek Life: Greek life is something that you have the opportunity to join here at SRU it's not huge nor small. They are well respected though.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: Slippery Rock has great sports programs. Varsity teams do very well and have a lot of student support and are well funded. Intramural sports are open to everyone with a lot of options and it's very fun! Good way to stay involved.

Overall Experience: i"m just about to finish my first year here at SRU. The professors are typical, some very passionate others terrible, but you'll find that anywhere. I love the campus the most, green and open with fresh air. It's a great learning environment. There's always something to do and ways to stay involved. The people are extremely friendly and classes challenging. It's everything college is supposed to be. Can't wait to come back for next term.

Health & Safety: While the campus itself is very safe and the campus police are always available for help, some of the surrounding apartments that house college students can be unsafe at times. The security of the school is overall pretty good however as we have to swipe into our residence halls, swipe onto our wing, swipe into our rooms, and then enter a personal code that is even different from our roommates. Overall they keep the campus as safe as possible.

Overall Experience: The career development office at the school is exceptional and they will take time to sit down with students one on one and talk about their future options and everything they would have to do to achieve their future goals. Practicums are often the responsibility of the students to find, but with professors and the career office at the students disposal, internships, practicums, and even future jobs are not hard to come by.

Overall Experience: There are a lot of interesting and engaging courses and the professors are focused on watching you succeed. They are usually available through email and office hours and will do a lot to help students pass and understand their classes. Class sizes range from large lectures to very small, but either way there still easy to learn from and the content is still easy to understand, although sometimes one can get more help from a professor in a smaller class.

Campus Housing: There are many housing options for living on campus and they fit anyone's financial needs and personal preferences. I personally enjoy the suites (over traditional dorms) because they make it feel more homey.

Greek Life: I've never been interested in Greek life, so I don't know much about it. I have a few friends in Greek life and they're very inclusive and helpful in the community.

Athletics: The students here are good athletes. It's a D3 school but the students are still passionate about their sports. We do well in many sports both varsity and club, but we also maintain high academic standings.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: My school offers many opportunities for the students to get involved and makes everyone feel comfortable while still excelling academically and athletically. It covers all of its bases, but sometimes stretches itself too thin.

Health & Safety: Every Dorm building has good security. You can't just get into any building. I feel completely safe and would say most students do. If you need security it's easy to reach out to someone. The healthcare facility is right on campus. It makes it easy to get to if you need immediate help.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: The professors are very helpful. Y ou can usually communicate in many ways if ypu need help. There are a lot of options when it comes to class selection.

Campus Housing: Campus housing is okay. Some of the buildings are far to get to class. They are pretty clean and do offer a nice laundry room. There are a variety of dorms to choose from. The bedrooms are a little tight. Overall though they're pretty nice. I share a room room with a friend and home neighbor.

Athletics: The fields are pretty nice. The way the campus is set up is very nice. Its is inviting to fans, parents & friends. Most athletes are proud to be playing Division II atheltics. In todays age D2 sports are very competitive and make up a lot of great athletes. I'm proud to be on the football team. It helps balance college life.

Overall Experience: Slippery Rpck is a great school. There are many friendly people. If you need help with anything it's available to you. I have made a lot of nice friends. I play football and I'm very committed to playing football. I am able to work my class schedule and football schedule to meet all of my needs.

Overall Experience: The courses truly depend on the department you are dealing with. Each department basically describes all of its employees and professors as a whole. The bio department isn't bad. The chem department kinda sucks, to be honest, other than a professor here and there. The physics department is not too bad either from what I've heard.

As far as my experience goes, the professors are generally pretty decent except for the handful that like to lecture with PowerPoint presentations. A lot of them are really knowledgeable in their field and are pretty passionate about it too. A lot of them do want to see you succeed and get pretty mad when a good chunk of their class isn't doing well, so they try to help you and make up for it somehow to boost your grade. The class sizes are generally small (about 30-50 people) unless its a 100 level basic course like Chem 1 or Physical Geology. The Asian Studies department has 4 Japanese courses with an amazing sensei and SRU has a sister school in Japan through her, so if you are interested at all in Asian culture I highly recommend taking Japanese with Yukako Ishimaru. Overall,''ve had an enjoyable experience at SRU and would probably choose it again given the chance.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: SRU has a lot of great programs that it is well-known for. Unfortunately, a lot of the teachers aren't too great at teaching and more often than not you have to teach yourself. The chemistry department is lacking and the biology department is alright. The campus is pretty average size so you can walk to all of your classes IF you live on campus. There is a shuttle that takes students to campus and around town between the hours of 7:30 AM and 4 PM but if you have any late classes or labs, like myself, then you find yourself walking a lot, and pretty far depending on where you live. There is a new evening shuttle but it doesn't go to every complex and there are fewer stops altogether. There isn't much around the area so people generally have parties at their apartments or go to the one bar in town known as G-Hill. If you're looking for a rural college with not much to do except study and party and have to teach yourself, then SRU is right for you.

Picking a college is a tough decision and nobody expects you to have your whole life charted out upon high school graduation. Fortunately, Slippery Rock can help you find yourself by exposing you to a laundry list of opportunities and organizations. Sure, students gripe about Weisenfluh food, the miserable weather, and the Ticket Nazi, but SRU students are in it together. Here, you are not treated as a number, but, in many cases, as a family member. Most students agree that the people are what make this place. You will not only make lifelong friendships and connections with fellow students but with professors and local townspeople, as well. It is highly difficult to find a school where professors sincerely care about you, and not just about their research and side projects.

In recent years, Slippery Rock has been trying to overcome the party school stigma that has overshadowed its sophisticated academic programs. Known for many programs, including education, physical therapy, and parks and recreational management, Slippery Rock offers high quality at a low price. Remember that a well-rounded education does not have to translate into millions of dollars in student debt. It is highly recommended that before you commit yourself to any school, visit the campus and see if it feels right. Though some schools look terrific on paper, you may be disappointed upon arrival. Slippery Rock offers something for everyone, and it’s highly recommended that you get involved and make the most of your time here. At Slippery Rock, we play hard, we work hard, and most agree that they would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Go Rock!
