Diversity: We have students here from all over the world.

2 College Junior

Drug Safety: There is a lot of drug use in off campus apartments.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: I suppose I don't mind most of my classes. I work hard for my grades. I'm not big into anything socially accept for the groups within my major. The health and counseling center is horrible. The counseling center turns away most students who need help the most. The ones they accept are put on a waiting list. If you like singing there aren't really any groups you can join. It's hard for transfer students to adjust. It is a very diverse school. Most people seem accepting and liberal.

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: Campus safety near the classrooms is usually fine. The health center is terrible. The counseling center turns away most students. The students that they accept for counseling are put on a waiting list. It seems like the people who need help the most are not receiving it.

3 College Junior

Greek Life: They don't really bother me.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: I am a transfer student, so I don't seem to fit in well.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I have never once felt unsafe on campus but for anyone who does they have the safety lights/telephones all over campus that connect right to campus police. It is a great and safe campus.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: The classes and professors are really great here they care about your success at SRU. The class sizes arent to bad and there are many classes offered to suit any interest you may have.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: SRU is highly accredited especially for PT and Education and career services and alumni and very active in trying to help you get into the work force.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The dorms are great, probably the best I have seen out of all the colleges I toured. Its also great that we having LLC's to group together majors.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: I don't think Greek life affects or doesn't affect social life here and non-Greeks and Greeks get along just fine.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: There is a lot of school spirit here and many fans that always go to all the sporting events especially the football and basketball games!

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Slippery Rock is very welcoming and the teachers and staff are wonderful! The only complaint is I'm so far away from home.

5 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The Dorms are on the newer side and are the perfect home away from home. Each room has individually controlled heating and cooling, carpeted floors, and drywall wall not cinder blocks! It makes it feel like a cozy space! Having your own bathroom in college is a blessing, you'll thank yourself for not getting a traditional dorm. The walls are paper thin though and you'll become very close to your neighbors beside, beneath, and above you since you'll hear everything they do. It's a good experience and you'll be very cozy.

Picking a college is a tough decision and nobody expects you to have your whole life charted out upon high school graduation. Fortunately, Slippery Rock can help you find yourself by exposing you to a laundry list of opportunities and organizations. Sure, students gripe about Weisenfluh food, the miserable weather, and the Ticket Nazi, but SRU students are in it together. Here, you are not treated as a number, but, in many cases, as a family member. Most students agree that the people are what make this place. You will not only make lifelong friendships and connections with fellow students but with professors and local townspeople, as well. It is highly difficult to find a school where professors sincerely care about you, and not just about their research and side projects.

In recent years, Slippery Rock has been trying to overcome the party school stigma that has overshadowed its sophisticated academic programs. Known for many programs, including education, physical therapy, and parks and recreational management, Slippery Rock offers high quality at a low price. Remember that a well-rounded education does not have to translate into millions of dollars in student debt. It is highly recommended that before you commit yourself to any school, visit the campus and see if it feels right. Though some schools look terrific on paper, you may be disappointed upon arrival. Slippery Rock offers something for everyone, and it’s highly recommended that you get involved and make the most of your time here. At Slippery Rock, we play hard, we work hard, and most agree that they would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Go Rock!
