4 College Student

Administration: They general truly care about your success overall.

3 College Student

Scholarships: The financial aid is very minimum because it is a state school.

4 College Student

Campus Food: The food is really good with a lot of different options for every type of person.

2 College Freshman

Athletics: The teams are not very good and the games tend to become very boring

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Its nice if you are 100% positive that you want to stay there finding someone to take your lease is nearly impossible.

1 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There is no where to really go that is somewhat healthy and is within a college students budget

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: It is always extremely crowded and sweaty there tends to always be arguments and fights no matter where you go.

3 College Freshman

Administration: They do not care about quiet hours which makes sleeping nearly impossible when you have roommates coming in at 2 am and loud neighbors.

2 College Freshman

Scholarships: The payments are on unreasonable timings apart.

2 College Freshman

Campus Food: Boozel is absolutely terrible. The dishes are always dirty and the food doesn't taste good. The only places that are good are Rocky's, Campus Grill, and Starbucks. While both Rocky's and Starbucks both use flex.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The walls are extremely paper thin and you can hear people having a conversation on the phone. The beds and closet space is nice and spacious. The water is not safe to drink and it smells. The people are not considerate of quiet hours which makes sleeping at night extremely difficult.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: SRU sends out emails to students constantly near the ending of each semester and often have tables for information and posters on campus about off campus housing. The institution has a great system for releasing as much information and contact with the students as possible.

Off-Campus Dining: There are at least five places for a student to eat off campus. Some of which are Bob's Subs, Dominoes, Sheetz (commonly used for fooding purposes), and two taverns.

4 College Freshman

Administration: Although there are policies for drugs and alcohol at school, I have heard of multiple occasions where students were able to sneak around the system.

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: The party atmosphere has been decent. I avoid going to outrageous parties and any party that involves drugs is a no go zone.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: The financial aid process was simple and did not involve tedious work.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: At Boozel there is a wide variety of options ranging from vegan to foreign cuizine. You definitely get the bang for your buck at boozel. Rocky's is a great place to grab something on the go or just relax. Conveniently, next to Rocky's is Quaker Steak and Lube. There are multiple options as far as dining. There is Boozel, Rocky's, Campus Grill, Wisenfluh, Flatz, Quaker Steak and Lube, and Starbuck's.

Campus Housing: Living on campus is outstanding. The resdient buildings are new and secure. We have one of the safest campuses in the country. I currently work for campus security and work hard to keep Slippery Rock University safe. The distance from our classes and potential work opportunities and stores is extremely reasonable. The social life is top notch in the eccence that mainly everyone on campus is friendly.

2 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: The off- campus housing complexes are extremely nice and updated but they are outrageously expensive. Because it is so unreasonable, a lot of students stay on campus. The off-campus prices are ridiculous.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Camelot is amazing and has awesome prices for breakfast. Grove City is very close which has a lot of popular and reasonable restaurants.

4 College Freshman

Administration: It is not over the top, but there are rules and they do enforce them. I feel safe at this school because they do enforce the rules.

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: Slippery Rock has parties but it is not wild like other larger schools. It is fun to go out and be social, but there is plenty more things to do if you do not want to go party. It's perfect for either preference.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: I barely have received any financial aid and both times I contacted the financial aid office they were very short with me and not much help.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: It is better than you would expect college food to be like and there is always a variety

5 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The dorms at Slippery Rock are absolutely amazing. They were recently built so they are very updated and very clean. There are only two older buildings with communal bathrooms, the other 5 resident halls are newer with personal bathrooms in each room. The cost is pretty reasonable for how amazing the dorms are.

Picking a college is a tough decision and nobody expects you to have your whole life charted out upon high school graduation. Fortunately, Slippery Rock can help you find yourself by exposing you to a laundry list of opportunities and organizations. Sure, students gripe about Weisenfluh food, the miserable weather, and the Ticket Nazi, but SRU students are in it together. Here, you are not treated as a number, but, in many cases, as a family member. Most students agree that the people are what make this place. You will not only make lifelong friendships and connections with fellow students but with professors and local townspeople, as well. It is highly difficult to find a school where professors sincerely care about you, and not just about their research and side projects.

In recent years, Slippery Rock has been trying to overcome the party school stigma that has overshadowed its sophisticated academic programs. Known for many programs, including education, physical therapy, and parks and recreational management, Slippery Rock offers high quality at a low price. Remember that a well-rounded education does not have to translate into millions of dollars in student debt. It is highly recommended that before you commit yourself to any school, visit the campus and see if it feels right. Though some schools look terrific on paper, you may be disappointed upon arrival. Slippery Rock offers something for everyone, and it’s highly recommended that you get involved and make the most of your time here. At Slippery Rock, we play hard, we work hard, and most agree that they would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Go Rock!
