Overall Experience: Slippery rock has the best atmosphere. I'm so excited to begin my career journey

Overall Experience: Your entire college experience depends on your classes and roommate

3 College Senior

Scholarships: It was okay, just a bit confusing

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Slippery Rock is a very small town. There's only a few restaurants on main street in walking distance to campus. The other place you could go off campus to the variety and options are 20-40 minutes away in more crowded areas. The local restaurants are really good though. The brewery has the best food ever. And Camelot has really good breakfast for cheap. It is really good food, but there's no where else to go.

Administration: I never really have any interactions with the administration. I never got in trouble for anything or knew anyone. I guess they do a good job because you don't see a lot of chaos going on around campus.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: The food is alright. Boozel can be good depending on what they're serving. Wesinfluh and Campus Grill are my favorites, but they are only open tip 2:30 during the week and usually I have class and don't get to go. The food on campus isn't bad, it just gets to be the same old and feels very boring after a while.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I got an academic scholarship which covered my tuition. That was really easy to deal with. The rest of the loans went very smoothly and I had no problems getting my finical aid and loans and things together.

Campus Housing: Living on campus at Slippery Rock is really great. The residential dorms are very spacious and clean. Each room has its own private bathroom which is nice. The campus itself is gorgeous. It is nestled in Pennsylvania's rolling hills with lots of trees surrounding it. There's not much to do off campus, but Pittsburg isn't too far away. The food is pretty good, but can get kind of old. The people are pretty friendly. I was surprised at how nice people are about holding doors open for others.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: The cost of off campus food varies, some places are reasonable, some outrageous, and some really cheap.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Off campus housing is pretty decent, but a car is necessary, as is a job.

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: The parties are good at first, but it's the same people doing the same things every weekend, and it just gets boring eventually.

3 College Freshman

Administration: The campus is completely dry, which prevents kids from excessive partying, giving students more time to study.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: Boozel has it's good days and it's bad days, sometimes it's entirely too crowded and the entire campus is there, and sometimes the food is just not good, or the options are poor.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: The financial aid process went fairly smooth for me, I didn't have many issues with the whole system. As for tips, I would say ask questions to the financial aid office, they are really helpful and reliable.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Living on campus is great, but the dorms are extremely pricey, and parking is almost impossible.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: the choices of apartments are pretty good but they are either too expensive or too far from campus or not very nnice

3 College Freshman

Party Scene: i dont really go our but if I do my friends and I go off campus to the frats

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: you can walk into town there is a sheetz, the brewery and a few taverns and other restaurants that are all really good and adorable

3 College Freshman

Administration: parking is a hassle and they ticket you every chance they get... police are nice other than that I always feel very safe there walking around campus by myself

2 College Freshman

Scholarships: I did not receive financial aid and i am still working on it. I did not qualify for fafsa either

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: Booz can be very very good or very very bad it depends on the day but usually there is always something good to eat. campus grill is amazing and of course every "white-girl" on campus is at starbucks during common hour

5 College Freshman

Campus Housing: i love living on campus! the dorms are practically new and the suit I live in has a kitchen and living room and 2 bathrooms and 4 bedrooms! I felt at home there and we got to be really close with a lot of people on our foor.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Dominos is always open late and has good deals if you know where to look but will often mess up your order. No one around here does student discounts. Ginger hill, bobs subs, and the brewery are really good with a lot of attraction to college students being very college friendly.

4 College Junior

Party Scene: With the right people it is fun but be careful because if you don't do it on an apartment housing land then the cops can arrest you for underage drinking instead of security guards just warning you.

3 College Junior

Administration: SRU is a dry campus and alcohol is not allowed, If you were to get caught with it. the cops will be called 100% of the time.

Picking a college is a tough decision and nobody expects you to have your whole life charted out upon high school graduation. Fortunately, Slippery Rock can help you find yourself by exposing you to a laundry list of opportunities and organizations. Sure, students gripe about Weisenfluh food, the miserable weather, and the Ticket Nazi, but SRU students are in it together. Here, you are not treated as a number, but, in many cases, as a family member. Most students agree that the people are what make this place. You will not only make lifelong friendships and connections with fellow students but with professors and local townspeople, as well. It is highly difficult to find a school where professors sincerely care about you, and not just about their research and side projects.

In recent years, Slippery Rock has been trying to overcome the party school stigma that has overshadowed its sophisticated academic programs. Known for many programs, including education, physical therapy, and parks and recreational management, Slippery Rock offers high quality at a low price. Remember that a well-rounded education does not have to translate into millions of dollars in student debt. It is highly recommended that before you commit yourself to any school, visit the campus and see if it feels right. Though some schools look terrific on paper, you may be disappointed upon arrival. Slippery Rock offers something for everyone, and it’s highly recommended that you get involved and make the most of your time here. At Slippery Rock, we play hard, we work hard, and most agree that they would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Go Rock!
