Off-Campus Dining

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Many options and variety! All food is great but some places are expensive. There are definitely off-campus places that accomodate students however

5 College Student

Off-Campus Dining: There are a lot of different places to go to eat that are reasonable

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Saratoga Springs is a very wealthy place, and so most of the restaurants off of Broadway are very expensive, white table cloth. But there are other restaurants on the side streets that are much more reasonable such as a crepes place and The Parting Glass. The bus goes to town on the half hour so it is easy to get to.

5 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: There are so many restaurants. It's always super yummy.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are a ton of restaurants for a fairly small town. Pretty good range as far as price goes, and a lot more variety in options than in my hometown. I haven't really run into student discounts, but a lot of places will take skidcards (ID cards/room key/card with money for laundry and stuff) as payment, which is really convenient.

Saratoga Springs has many, many restaurants. There is a huge range of restaurants from coffee shops to three-course fancy restaurants. There is a range of American, Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, and Indian foods. Students often frequent restaurants downtown, but some restaurants are certainly saved for Celebration Weekend, when parents come up to visit. Uncommon Grounds, a coffee/bagel shop, is a popular Skidmore hangout to catch up with your friends on a Saturday morning or to do some work over the weekend (lots of outlets and free Wi-Fi!). Other popular Skidmore coffee spots include Coffee Traders and Virgil's House.

Some other traditional Skidmore spots include Esperanto, a popular late-night Mexican pizzeria conveniently located on Caroline Street right next to all of the bars. There are also a string of chain restaurants in Wilton including Chipotle, Five Guys, and fast food restaurants like McDonald's and Taco Bell. All of a college student's options are covered!

Esperanto was founded by a Skidmore professor who was also the inventor of "the Doughboy." "The Doughboy" is a lot like a Hot Pocket-wrapped inside pizza dough you find cheese, chives, and chicken, which is a wonderful late-night treat.
