Overall Experience: I have not been at Sierra College very long, but so far I have enjoyed the experience I've had. I was able to register for all the classes I wanted at the times I wanted them. I am looking forward to a great semester this fall.

5 College Sophomore

Academic Flexibility: It is very convenient going to Sierra College because it is cheap and close to where I live

3 College Sophomore

Online Courses: Online classes have lots and lots of busy work, whereas in a classroom you learn in class so there isn't a huge need for homework

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I have yet to experience a bad professor at Sierra, all of my professors just want students to learn and are happy to help students who need help.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I don't think I have encountered anyone who only wants a Sierra College AA degree. The people I have met use Sierra as a stepping stone for transferring to a school where they can get their BA or Master's

Academic Experience: Instructors and resources available to students at this school are amazing. Everything facilitates student success.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: For such a small school there are great instructors that provide students with a lot of opportunity

2 College Freshman

Career Services: Its just Sierra College, nothing special

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Check for your teacher on

3 College Freshman

Academic Experience: Its sure a change from high school, have to stay on task if you don't want to be stuck there over 3 years

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Its great for a community college. As long as you stay focused you can get in and out in a reasonable time. Just be sure to think ahead

Academic Flexibility: Sierra offers a wide range of times for most classes. However, getting into a specialty class (ie not a basic English or History class) is sometimes difficult. Typically, if you register early, you should be able to schedule classes that work with your work schedule.

4 College Junior

Online Courses: The online courses are great when you can get them, but they don't offer too many of them, which is a shame. I, personally, wanted to take a online course over the summer, but getting a spot is difficult.

4 College Junior

Career Services: Sierra makes it pretty straight forward to transfer to a 4-year college. But ultimately it's up to the student to be proactive to see the councilors and advisers to stay on track. They give you everything you need to know for free, but you have to take the time to plan your transfer.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: All of my professors have been very dedicated to their teaching. They expect quality and hardworking students, so it definitely isn't easy, but you learn a lot. Although, the some of the Math professors are known to be ridiculously difficult, so be sure to ask around and read reviews before signing up for the classes.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: Sierra is a community college, so their goal isn't to prepare you for a career. They prepare you to attend a 4-year university. So the career prospects aren't great, which is to be expected.

Academic Experience: The engineering program at Sierra is rigorous! Don't assume things will be a breeze because it's a community college. The Math/ Physics/ Engineering professors are dedicated and expect the best out of their students. Sierra has a high quality engineering program that prepares you for any university.

Overall Experience: Most people tend to overlook community colleges, but Sierra is certainly worth a consideration. With financial aid, I haven't paid a dime for my education. Also, the quality of education is great, especially if you're a STEM major. Transferring to a 4-year college, like a UC or CSU, is simple and attending Sierra puts you in a good place to transfer.

Overall Experience: This school has it all! After graduating high school early, I wasn't too sure Sierra would be the place for me, but after attending Sierra for a semester and a half, my thoughts have completely changed! After using the extremely helpful site,, I was able to make informed decisions on the professors I wanted. I also scheduled a counseling appointment with one of their MANY counselors, and was completely amazed at the care, depth, and preparedness I was given during that meeting. Not only did my counselor explain each and every course to me, she also created a year plan to get me in and done at Sierra. How great is that? I definitely was not prepared to have such a caring person guide me through an often very scary moment in life.

While walking around campus, most people seem extremely friendly and helpful. You could stop and ask anyone a question if you happened to get lost, and they would gladly help out. Professors are also EXTREMELY caring. They all put forth 110% and are always there if you are having issues with homework, exams, or even life. They all are extremely clear on what they expect from you, and are willing to answer any questions you have. So far, I have not had a single issue with my instructors, but I also contribute that luck to

The difficulty of courses ranges as one might expect. I have noticed that peers in my class will have a much harder course than the one I have, so again, check to see just how difficult an instructor may be.

Having a good experience at Sierra will also depend hugely on the initiative of the student and the effort the put forth. Good experiences don't always come knocking, its up to you to make the most out of every situation. Good Luck!

Academic Flexibility: Very convieniet! My classes are somewhat flexible. With good reasoning, yes, very flexible which is what really matters anyways.

5 College Student

Online Courses: I love online classes. When I started at Sierra College I only took on campus classes but one summer I took a class online and realized how much easier and convienet it was for me and my busy schedule. As long as you log on and hold yourself accountable, its easier. I also think it depends on the class too. Some classes you cant take online and some classes you just shouldn't take online. For example: I cant talk my science class online because it also has a lab and that must be on campus.

3 College Student

Career Services: I honestly don't know because I haven't graduated yet and haven't talked to anyone about their experiences with it.

Overall Experience: If you take any advice from me take this, make sure you go on RATEMYPROFFESOR.COM before you ever pick a class. TRUST ME!!!! I didn't do it for the first two years at Sierra College, I had a mix of amazing teachers and the worst teachers ever! To avoid have terrible teachers that make it impossible for you to pass and have a good experience, go on to rate my professor and look up that teachers reviews. This can save your grade and in college you cant afford to fail a class. The class sizes are average-small and its amazing! I learn so much better in small classes because you get more one on one time and sometimes the teacher will notice if your gone and its much easier to email them when they know who you are and have more time to reach out to you when needed.

4 College Student

Overall Experience: I honestly wouldn't have a good opinion because i'm never involved with recruiters or the career center.

4 College Student

Academic Experience: My major is Psychology and the classes I have taken so far for it have been amazing! They are more challenging than the classes everyone has to take but they should be so that's a good thing. I haven't come across work opportunities and that's okay because I have a great job and that's not something I would be interested in at the moment.
