3 College Freshman

Local Area: Hard to say, since without a car, I am limited.

Guys & Girls: There are many types of people that go to this school. There are a lot of upper middle class people, so clothing labels are everywhere. I haven't felt I am less liked if I don't have them. I did notice right away that people dress up more to go to class. I have significantly upped my wardrobe to include more shoes, dresses, nice shirts. A variety of interests at the school include: partiers, serious students, athletes, artsy, social, and loners. Most people are very helpful and friendly. It is easy to make friends here if you put yourself out there!

Health & Safety: I feel very safe on the campus personally. There is always a presence of security. Gates are locked nightly, so only those with an ID get in after 9pm. Of course, someone could walk onto campus at any time. Campus is well lit, and there are security boxes to call for help if needed. Can always ask for an escort if I am feeling afraid.

Overall Experience: I am glad I chose Siena College. I am friends with some great people. The campus is comfortable and safe. The food is okay for campus food. I am having experiences that I don't think I would have at other schools. I have already been involved in theatre, gone to conferences, and participated in various events at the school. It is a great place to define yourself. Even though it is a Franciscan school, it is not uber-religious. All are accepted here.

Overall Experience: I have some mixed feelings. Some of the professors are great! Some let you sink or swim, and don't really explain things as clearly as I would like. Explanations for what they are looking for in papers, essays can be vague. You learn their quirks as you go. Other professors are amazing. They are clearly involved in the learning of their students and keep everyone engaged. Classes and assignments are challenging. This is not a school to go to if you want to skate through. I am a physics major, so labs are a way of life in addition to the classes. You should expect to spend a good bit of time on studying. On the other hand, you still have plenty of time for extracurriculars. You just have to have good time management.

Overall Experience: The Siena networking system is the best. Internships and research are available to any undergrad who wants it. Prospects for a job or graduate school upon graduation are above average. Career center services work with you to get a good resume.

Athletics: The basketball team is well supported. The exercise facilities are good. Wish the pool were open to all people more--reserved a lot for swim team.

College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Most people either commute from home or live in dorms on campus.

Off-Campus Dining: Convenience is an issue if you don't have a car. Some places within reasonable walking distance are Five Guys, a local cupcake shop, various pizza places. Bella Napoli is the bomb for pastries, donuts, cookies, etc.

4 College Freshman

Administration: There is some strictness to policies, such as drugs, etc., but the administration is good to work with.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: Make sure you apply to all the scholarships/endowments you qualify for. There is a list on the website and it only takes one email to apply to all. Get your FAFSA done on time. Talk to Financial Aid about any other needs. They do work with you!

College Freshman

Party Scene: I am not into the party scene. I have seen women get in big trouble by getting too drunk. Have had several people taken by ambulance due to alcohol poisoning. See no need. I have an active social life without getting into the party scene.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: Wish they would have more normal food. Tired of weird sauces and spices. Would love some homestyle foods.

Campus Housing: The room is probably an average size, but the windows need to be open in the winter due to it being overheated. I live on the fourth floor, so the view is good. Wish the closet had a door, it would look much neater. I like the shelf on the wall, but it prevents us from getting a loft to increase the floor space. The bathrooms are clean, but it is something to get used to , always showering with other people in the room. I don't have far to go to classes or dining, so that is convenient.

Scholarships: I'm a freshmen, so parking does not apply to me.

Campus Housing: Better then I thought it would be.

College Senior

Greek Life: We do not have Greek Life on our campus because it is a Franciscan school, so Greek Life would completely defy the basis of Siena College's belief in everyone being equals.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: I pay ALOT should be better

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Good be WAY WAY better

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: Not the first place to look to for diversity...it is Siena you know.
