4 College Freshman

Administration: The RA's are here as supervisors more than police. The school policies are very lenient and understanding.

Campus Housing: Living on campus is great. You have a roommate you spend time with but you also know everybody in your whole building as well. Everybody is very nice and friendly and if there are any roommate issues it is very easy to switch. Best to Worst it is Thatcher, Shaw, Gardiner, Miller, Kenamond.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: There are not many scholarship opportunities because Shepherd is a small school. But tuition is cheap and very manageable.

4 College Freshman

Majors: There is wide variety of majors here.

Health & Safety: There has never been a time where I have felt unsafe on campus. I have walked back from my car many times at night and have been approached by someone who didn't want to walk alone. There is nobody here to cause harm to people here and if you do ever feel unsafe, there are callboxes located every 20 feet.

Guys & Girls: Nobody here at Shepherd is quite alike. This place is so diverse of all shapes, sizes and kinds of people. Everybody is accepting of everybody, if you are worried that you will not fit in here, I guarantee there is at least one person who has the same interests as you.

Local Area: Shepherdstown is a wonderful place. The weather is a little bit bipolar, parking is a long walk, but the people here are great. There are several fantastic small restaurants and shops, there are no big name places but there is everything you need right around the corner.

5 College Freshman

Academics: You get a great education at Shepherd. The courses are challenging and the professors are great. Getting a degree fro here is something to be proud of.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: It's very easy to get involved in Greek Life. If you want to join, don't worry about trying to find someone becasue they will most likely find you first.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: We have a police department on campus that can be called 24/7. We also have a health center and counseling support services for if you have been sexually assaulted, harassed, or just want to talk.

4 College Junior

Athletics: Our football and baseball teams are very good. The baseball team won the state championships not too longs ago and the football team won the conference championship not too long ago.

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: I think it is great to live on campus. It makes getting to class in the morning much easier. It is also a great way to make friends. The traditional dorms are a little small but there are options such as apartments and suites that are much bigger. The freshman dorms have no air conditioning which can suck but only for the first two weeks of the Fall semester.

3 College Junior

Local Area: There is not that much do to on our campus because it is not close to many things. We have a mall about 30 minutes away and a shopping center 20 minutes away. There are lots of sports events to go to on campus and everyone always goes to the football games and are very supportive of the team.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: There is not that many off-campus dinning within walking distance. And the few restaurants that are are to expensive for college students to afford.

4 College Junior

Administration: I think our school is relatively strict but it is all to keep the students safe.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: There have been very few incidences of crime on campus, but sometimes it is difficult to walk across campus at night due to the lighting of pathways. There is always a cop stationed around campus.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: The school has financial aid available but does not give out enough to cover the cost of tuition.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: All the local restaurants such as Blue Moon and Betty's are outstanding. They offer plenty of variety and are locally owned, which is a good way to support the economy. The fast food chains such as Sheetz, McDonalds, and Dairy Queen are owned and operated by locals, which makes them very friendly to go to.

5 College Freshman

Local Area: The overall area of Shepherdstown is beautiful and filled with lots of culture. The local businesses are very friendly towards students. There are many things to do in the area, but most involve driving.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: The athletics are decent, and the fans who support them are loyal. The band is the biggest cheering sections for the football team.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: The people involved in Greek life are for the most part friendly and make sure to create a positive atmosphere and impression of their chapters on campus.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: There are apartments off campus that are within walking distance, but most housing is on campus.

4 College Senior

Majors: I like being in the Spanish program here at Shepherd University. The professors are very personal with you and are available to meet with you whenever you need to since it is a small program. However they always do not offer enough electives for the program so you may have to do an independent study or take classes at another college to transfer in.
