College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: I have never lived off campus.

Off-Campus Dining: The only restaurants close to campus are fast food restaurants, but they are all pretty good.

Administration: The overall strictness on campus is great. I feel as if they are too lenient on their policy about underage drinking.

Scholarships: The financial aid office was so helpful and helped guide me through the whole process.

Campus Food: There are not very many options for non meat eaters.

Campus Housing: Living on campus is really convenient and comfortable. Everyone is nice and the rooms are great.

Athletics: Football gets their own space, but basketball has to share the same court with volleyball and they put down tape that ruins the paint on the floor which is very upsetting for us basketball players. The basketball court should only be used by basketball players. Not only that but anyone can get on the court which ruins it!

College Sophomore

Greek Life: we do not have greek life

Off-Campus Housing: We as college students only have so much money. I mean it could just be me but, i think there should be cheaper places. Out of 3 roommates each should not have to pay over 300.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Small town, so very few options. Winchester need to start growing

1 College Sophomore

Administration: Public safety thinks that they are real police officers. I mean one or two of them but the rest of them have never even taken a criminal justice course, they are just mall cops, that take their job too seriously

3 College Sophomore

Party Scene: I go to a really small school so a lot of people go to the surrounding big schools for parties

1 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I live with my single mother who has to deal with my school tuition and is sending my sister to college next year and the school is still being stingy with money. Which i think is very unfair because i go to Shenandoah University a d3 college and we have football players coming here for free. This is illegal and not fair because these boys have very poor grades and are being saved by their coaches each class they fail. They should not be getting athletic scholarships. More of that money needs to go into academic scholarships to students that need and deserve it.

1 College Sophomore

Campus Food: Sedexo is a poor catering business. They need to be terminated.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: I would actually prefer to live off campus 1 because it would be a lot cheaper than paying for room and board here at Shenandoah and i would not have to around everyone her at school in addition to not having the ridiculous rules that the school and RAs put into place to control us college students at every chance that they get

Campus Food: The dining options at Shenandoah are iffy. The food court and dining hall- called the Caf- come out, guns blazing, during Welcome Week, and the quality is a steady decline from there. I prefer to eat at the food court rather than the dining hall. The dining hall has terrible hours and when it is open, it is overcrowded. The food court is open from early in the morning to late at night, with staff keeping the food cooking all day. The dining hall has long intervals between service.

The food gets tiresome. The food court, though convenient, has a small menu they repeat all year long. Flex dollars get replenished at the start of each semester. I get $50 dollars twice a year. Most students use this quickly at Sheetz or Chipotle to escape the monotony of campus food, so the flex money never lasts long.

Simply-To-Go is what I defer to. A salad, soup, maybe a sandwich? Just grab, swipe card, and go.

If you pay for the meal plan, make the most out of it. You have an hour wait period before you can swipe again, so grab something from one of the coolers for later. Sometimes the dining hall has incredible cultural food events. Sometimes they serve authentic Chinese, Swiss, etc. food, and I've heard great things about those events.

Campus Housing: Generally, the quality of housing at Shenandoah University is good. The campus is small, so the freshman dorms are never far from (most) classes and the dining halls are a small walk away. The senior dorms are a little separated from the rest of the campus, not by much, but still enough to be annoying if you don't have a car to cross the always busy Winchester roads.

The freshman dorms come in suite, quad, and community styles. Each has good and bad points. The RAs and DAs are awesome, helpful, and kind. The cleaning staff does their part in keeping the dorms clean.

Academics: The physical therapy program here is great. Though I didn't take advantage of it, the school does have a 3+3 program for physical therapy. Though the courses are tough, professors and 2nd and 3rd year students are happy to help the first year students. Even though things can feel overwhelming at times, I truly love this program and would recommend it to anybody looking into PT school.

Academics: Classes are tough and the workload can feel a bit overwhelming at times. However, as a graduate student, this is pretty much necessary and expected. The exams, while often challenging, are fair. Professors are generally approachable if a student needs help.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Graduate courses are challenging but all of the professors are very approachable and truly want to see you do well.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I can't speak much for anything having to do with undergraduate studies, but the graduate programs offered here are great. The passing rates for the boards exams are quite high, as are employment rates.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Its not too hard to find a place to live off campus. If you want to get a nice place though, it can be a bit competitive, so you'll want to begin apartment searching as early in the year as possible.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There is a nice variety of restaurants around the Winchester area. I've always been a fan of the dining options on the Old Town mall.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: I think the food is very good at the dining hall and grills

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Freshman housing was based a lot on first come first serve and I was fortunate enough to get the Resident Hall I wanted. I am not far from anything.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

The overall experience at Shenandoah University is really refreshing. It makes students feel safe that they are on the right path to success in life. It also makes them feel comfortable and prepared enough for grad school once they graduate. Even though there are many schools out there in the world, many students enjoy SU because of the all-around connection they have with the teachers, students, and other staff members on campus.

SU prepares students for future careers in many areas and through many ways. Teachers constantly remind students what to expect in graduate school or things they need to remember for certain fields. SU, as a whole, helps prepare students by having job fairs. Shenandoah invites up to about 100 volunteers to come and talk about their job experiences. The volunteers explain to students what their college life was all about and how the transition is from college to the real world. Shenandoah is very unique because almost every student is there to work and study hard for a future career. The school isn't like many others, where students choose to attend because of parties or frats. SU seems like many of the students are there to meet new people and to expand their horizons.
