Campus Food

5 College Freshman

Campus Food: The variety surprised me and the food is actually cooked very well.

4 College Junior

Campus Food: Food and dining on campus is pretty diverse. The food is, overall, very good. The price for a meal plan is a bit high, but considering everything that comes with it, it's pretty good!

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: Options are okay, but limited and the surrounding area isn't great either.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Food: Gwinn is pretty good, but there isn't a lot of variety sometimes. Its the same stuff everyday with a few different items. Gwinn is easy to go to and have your food prepared already though.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: Gwinn commons is usually hit or miss for lunch and dinner. Sometimes they have good food, but in my opinion the food is just okay. On specialty nights thought Gwinn can sometimes bring out the good stuff. As for the other places to eat around campus I think they're pretty decent. I recently got into Sandella's and I've been a fan of the Falcon Grill since my freshman year. You can use your points at these places so its pretty convenient when you want a change from Gwinn.

There are limited options for dining on campus. Falcon's Landing in the Student Union Building sports a coffee shop, bagels, smoothies, and a grill. There is another larger coffee shop called Pura Vida (all fair-trade products) and a Subway, too. And then—ladies and gentlemen—there is Gwinn. Gwinn Commons is the school's only cafeteria, and every student living in the dorms is required to have a meal plan with them. Different plans include different meals, which means you are allowed to eat only during hours specified by the meal plan. There are many different stations, including a deli, pizza, salad bar, soup, grill, classic and international stations, cereal, and dessert. There is always a vegetarian option, as well as a gluten-free dish, too. Consider yourself warned, though; Gwinn is all-you-can-eat and gluttony is a sin as well as a surefire way to earn your Freshman 15.

Gwinn is not only a place to fill your belly, but also a place to socialize. Since all dorm residents frequent the establishment, it is always a hub of activity and crowded during peak hours. It is almost unheard of to go to Gwinn by yourself, especially at dinner. Most people will go in groups from their dorm floor because it's never fun to be that awkward person standing with a tray in front of the entire cafeteria, scanning for an open seat. Gwinn is also prone to shenanigans and bad music selection. Girls should beware of boys acting strange in an attempt to grab some attention because as soon as you glance their way, you will likely hear a table erupt into shouts of "touchdown!" somewhere on the premises. Such are the ways of Gwinn football. It is also helpful to have a designated "Gwinn" sweatshirt because your clothes will have an unmistakable Gwinn odor when you leave.
