5 College Sophomore

Campus Food: 99% of the time it's great. Worst case scenario, if there's nothing else you like for a day, there's always really good salad bar

Campus Food: Pretty good! Gets boring, like any dining hall, though. Pitzer is the best, though.

5 College Freshman

Campus Food: I LOVE the food at the 5C. Scripps has a really good cafeteria and I love when they have cookies. There is always something really delicious to eat and I am never bored. There are plenty of themes for each cafeteria depending on the night, for instance Sushi Friday, Korean Taco Night, or Spaghetti Night.

Campus Food: 7 dining halls, and so many options. Scripps is known for having many healthy options, including one of the best salad bars and a variety of vegan/gluten free options. There is definitely something for all dietary needs, and the food is extremely appetizing.

It is well known that Malott, the Scripps dining hall, is the most favored of the Claremont colleges. Popular favorites include the hot grill, the exhibition bar, weekly sushi day, and infamous freshly-baked chocolate cookies that melt in your mouth. Vegetarian and vegan foods are also readily available, although the selection is rather small, and there is not a very large range of choices. In 2003, Malott had become so crowded during meal times that Scripps students decided to have "Scripps Only" hours so that Scripps students could eat at their own dining hall without fighting a crowd. Students do get tired of Malott day in and day out, but compared to most colleges, the food at Scripps is gourmet.

When students do not want to eat at Malott, they are able to dine at the dining halls of other campuses with their meal plan, so the variety is very good. Next to Malott is the Motley, which is a social hub on campus that serves coffee and other drinks. The Motley sells all-organic foods, ranging from all-natural gum to health shakes and organic cookies. Here students are able to study, relax, and pick up a healthy snack. Of course dining hall food day after day will begin to get sickening, and this is when having the choice of five campuses to eat on is a lifesaver.
