Campus Quality

4 College Junior

Campus Quality: It's not too bad at SSU.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: Ssu has what's call a " special kind of feel". There is nowhere else you can go and expierence it. Everything is unique because things change from day to day. Nothing is repeat ice so I can say the school is unpredictable. The programs are good with campus life is in full affect.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: Ssu is very student oriented you will never have to look far for something to do or somewhere to go. The center and buildings on campus each have some history that you should learn. We are very Eco friendly and we do our best to keep our campus clean.

3 Recent Alumnus

Campus Quality: Unique opportunities on campus would be the variety of Greek opportunities that offered on campus. Also the variation in classes and a deep ethnic culture that is rich in Black heritage to help form a balance of life.

3 Recent Alumnus

Campus Quality: Life on campus is a great opportunity to learn the cultures of the new life and environment and to create new traditions. Campus activities are based upon the needs of the students. Student hangouts are often generated to keep strategic events in history aligned with the structure and traditions of the campus.

Savannah State University is up-and-coming, with many new additions happening on campus. Savannah State University is the oldest HBCU (historically black college and university) and strives to uphold the history on campus, but years have past, and the administration has realized that renovations are necessary. Students and administration are working side by side to maintain the SSU campus. Overall, students are always entertained with the many things going on on campus, like events sponsored by the Student Government Association and the Campus Activity Board, just to name a few. You're bound to have an enjoyable time, as long as you come out of your room and get involved.

The King-Frazier Student Center is the peak of the campus. This is where everyone comes to meet and greet, and you're sure to see people. In August 2011, SSU received a second student center. Athletic centers are also being maintained and renovated. The latest project is the football stadium. The Asa H. Gordon Library is filled with all the information necessary to get an "A" on a research paper. Gordon Library is a circle—the reason being the architect said he could fit more books in a circle library, and he was correct.

Clubs and Organizations on Campus
Getting involved is a major aspect of your college experience, whether it be a club, organization, or social group. It is easy to show interest in an organization, but for many, an application, recommendation, or interview is required. Greek life is another prevalent addition to SSU. You must have a minimum number of credits in order to be eligible to pledge. Starting a new club can be easy; you just have to follow the SSU constitution and guidelines.
