4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: My school is amazing. The atmosphere is great and everyone is helpful. I'm going to be apart of the band at Savannah State and I just know my experience will be amazing

3 College Sophomore

Party Scene: Off campus parties are te best. And we have a very close bar right next to the school that is dedicated to us every Thursday night.

4 College Sophomore

Party Scene: The kickbacks are the main go to scenes at school. That's where the real fun happens and you can really just have fun, that is until campus police comes and shuts that down.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: As far as the work, it never feels like an overload. I am really learning in my courses and my professors are really helpful.

5 College Sophomore

Diversity: Being that SSU has a large accteptance rate, there are alot of diverse people that go there. Of course the black race is dominant but there are very different people that end up there. SSU is a school that accepts you however you are.

4 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: The drug scene isnt any different fromany other. We have close access to alcohol and everyone partakes in a cup or two at parties. It's not bad at all.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Beigng a business major, there are so many corses offered to me at SSU. I feel as though I am learning and gaining alot of skills and experinces. COBA (college of business administration) is amazing and we have excellent professors.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Companies like Google and Disney are always looking for current students who are at SSU, and its because they know that we are being well prepared as we go into our future careers.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: The housing is pretty great considering how cheap it is. The freshman dorms like the fllc, tiger court\place, bowen, bostic tend to have very strict rules. When I stayed in Tiger court the security officer was very rude and nasty even to my parents when they came to visit. And people used to pull the fire alarm at wee hours of the morning, because they thought it was funny, that was very annoying. But that's the only bad experience I had. Other than that living on campus is pretty cool. Plus when you live on campus you grow closer to your classmates. You're also closer to your classes. You get the full HBCU experience living on campus.

Greek Life: HBCU Greek life will always be the best. from the Parties to the probates to the events they throw, they make you wanna be apart of it.

3 College Junior

Athletics: Going to the games are fun (lol)

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: I love Savannah State. It's what you make it. If you come here, work hard and get involved you'll have no choice but to have a good time.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

From the academics to the social life, Savannah State University is nothing but great. But the college experience is ultimately what you make of it. SSU's historic value is what surprises students the most. The oldest building on campus, Hill Hall, has survived fire. In addition, everyone is so friendly and family oriented, always willing to lend a helping hand. Many things make the school unique, including Felix Alexis Circle, which hosts the Greek "Divine Nine" fraternities and sororities. Many other schools have Greek houses, but SSU has Greek "plots."

The student-to-teacher ratio provides students with one-on-one assistance from teachers, where you're more than just a number. In addition, despite these smaller numbers, students still come together to make a difference. Ultimately, the student orientation leaders (SOLs) and tiger ambassadors (TAs) smoothen the transition from high school to college, and enlighten prospective students about SSU. Both organizations allow upcoming freshmen to feel right at home and welcomed. SSU prepares students to have an open mind, and to network appropriately because it's not what you know—it's who you know.
