Academic Experience: Establishing a relathionship with my professors has made a world of diffence

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Sauk Valley Community College is a small college that is head by a small administration.

5 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: I am a first year student enrolled in my second semester. I don't completely know all there is about my college's credit transfers and so forth quite yet.

4 College Junior

Online Courses: Although some instructors are slower than others at responding to emails or questions, it's both manageable and easy to complete.

5 College Junior

Career Services: Like i've stated in the previous questions, students who have already graduated have very little trouble finding jobs in their profession.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: The courses are challenging and the professors are great! They all know what they are doing and have a fluent way of teaching.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: Once students receive their degrees nearly all of them have have little to no trouble finding a job in the field they studied in.

4 College Junior

Academic Experience: Nearly all of my professors have done an outstanding job at what they do. I have only had one bad experience since attending this past year. However, I was given the resources needed to past that particular course.

Overall Experience: At Sauk Valley Community College, they truly care about your success. They have a well put together staff who are more than willing to sit down and not only help us with anything and everything that we need, but they also take the necessary time needed to help us understand what it is that we need to know.

Academic Experience: My major is Social Work, and with my first semester, I was able to take a class that was taught by an actual social worker, which I found really helpful and interesting because of his experiences that he shared with us. So far there hasn't been much of a hard workload; the teachers realize that you have jobs and families, and they give you enough to get you to learn the information, without putting you into overdrive. As far as the internship/job opportunities, if you are eligible, Sauk has a work study program, as well as AmeriCorps which allow for students to fit in a job as well as going to school, and they are really good at working around your class schedule so that you can get your homework done when you need to.

Overall Experience: I really enjoy attending Sauk, because of the fact that I can go to school as well as stay close to home, so that I can save money. The class sizes allow for the students to get to know the teachers, and feel more comfortable asking questions that they may have, as well as developing a relationship with your instructors, which really can come in handy, depending who your teacher is, with their understandings of when you may have emergencies and can't make a lecture, or do an assignment. Overall, I really do think that Sauk is a great school to go to, because the environment is one where you can learn and save money while doing it.

Overall Experience: Coming out of high school, I knew I needed some time to establish some solid ground before rushing off to a bigger and further-away college than Sauk and that's exactly what this school has done for me so far. Not only does it save me money while I'm getting my gen eds and figuring out what path I want to take in my education, but it's really given me a good idea of what college is like compared to high school without having to be pushed way out of my comfort zone at a bigger, more crowded campus. At the same time, I knew going into Sauk that it wouldn't have near the same standards as a school like DePaul would as far as little accommodations here and there as well as how the school is organized, the quality of food, how nice the classrooms look, etc. since it is a community college. However, Sauk is ever-growing and changing for the better and it definitely has the necessities covered academically, and I'm glad I chose to come here.

Overall Experience: Since the school is a community college and very small, you don't obviously get a "college experience" as if you were to go to a university. Since there are not very many teachers, there aren't very many classes with multiple teachers so if you have a problem with one teacher, that may be the only teacher for a required class. This has been the most difficult situation at Sauk Valley Community College.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: It's a good school for those looking for smaller clas sizes. My biggest class has 30 students. There isn't too much diversity at this school. If you decide to attend. Apply for the Trio program the counselor through there are great!

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I love going to Sauk because it had saved me so much money and it's a smaller school so you can get to know more people on a better understanding.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: It is an inexpensive option, especially if you are from the area. I know it gives free rides to the top 10% of every class in the sauk valley area. It's option for online is also going to save me a ton of money in gas and other expenses. Everyone in the area should give it a chance.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: I love it. I love the smaller classes, making friends. I also love the fact that the instructors know who you are. I'd rather complete as much as I possibly can here than spending 10x more money at a university where I'd be doing the same classes.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: Overall, Sauk is a great school. The professors are very willing to help you with whatever you need. They provide lots of courses and the counselors are willing to help you set up and academic plan to help you schedule classes for current semesters as well as future ones. Class sizes are nice and small. They are small enough that teachers don't have teaching assistants, so there is no confusion between the two about grading, etc. You are also able to ask questions one on one.

Campus Resources: There is a fitness center available for student use as a one credit hour course. There are numerous office to help students with just about everything. The library is very good, they even have CDs and movies available to check out. They also have I-Share capabilities, which allows you to check out books from other universities. There is a student activities office and a student government that is in charge of campus activities. They do a great job, there are multiple events every month. They have a special event at the beginning of every semester for students to have fun and get free food.

4 College Senior

Academic Flexibility: For some of the lecture courses there is only one lecture period available. Normally this would be awful, but since my school is a junior college, it is perfectly acceptable. There are multiple lab times for the science courses, which is awesome to work around the rest of my schedule. Since Sauk was my first college, I never had to transfer credits. I wouldn't know how they take credits from other schools. But the credits I earned at Sauk transfer well to most other universities.

4 College Senior

Online Courses: The online courses are pretty good. In my experience they have been extremely helpful in completing my double major coursework. The summer courses were a bit difficult to do, since there is half the time to complete the work. The registration process is the same as regular courses. The professors give your their email and office hours if you need to contact them. There is not much peer interaction over the online classes, which isn't a big deal.

3 College Senior

Tuition & Financial Aid: The financial aid office is difficult to work with sometimes when working on the FAFSA, because they don't always get it all done correctly. So they ask you to come back multiple times. They always worked it out in the end though and everything turned out okay. They are currently working on improving this process, so hopefully it will be better for future students.

4 College Senior

Academic Experience: Free tutoring, which helped me pass my calc class. Not many classes for ag majors, only down fall.

4 College Senior

Academic Experience: Most professors are helpful and teach their classes well. Registering for classes is easy, it can be done with a counselor or online. Although not many ag courses are available, they work with the University of Illinois to provide online classes.

3 College Freshman

Campus Quality: The campus life is very varied. It is possible to meet a variety of any time of the day.
