Greek Life

5 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Greek life holds the biggest involvement within our school, almost everyone is a part of it. I believe it's great because it forms a sense of community and allows students to bond together outside or a classroom atmosphere. At San Jose State, sororities and fraternities are not as cliquey as other schools. You are allowed to have your own life outside of Greek life, and you are not judged on physical features. I also love how my school's Greek life places such an importance on philanthropies. There are week long events and competitions that raise hundreds and thousands for great causes. Such has Heart to Heart Week or Puzzle Piece for Autism Week. It's truly inspiring people from all different sororities and fraternities come together for a specific cause. They also pay lots of attention to grades, and their goal is to bring a family you could grow with and rely on.

Greek Life: They throw a lot of parties

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: I've only heard about Greek life and parties from friends. They weren't a part of it but they got to go to a bunch of the parties and some do treat you differently when they hear you're not a part of any of the sororities or fraternities. I'm sure this varies from person to person. As for housing, a lot of the properties right across campus are Greek housing (their letters are displayed so it's easy to figure out which house belongs to which frat/sorority). The amount needed to actually be in a sorority or frat is a bit much because you have to pay for housing, dues, etc.

Greek Life: I'm not involved in the Greek life but many of my friends are. I think it is too much of a time commitment so I do not see myself becoming a part of it any time soon.

Greek Life: There is an average amount of Greek life on campus. Their presence is usually noticed everyday, and the treatment Greeks receive is no different from non-Greeks.
