Athletics: I only attended one football game.

Overall Experience: It has been difficult to make my way in this school but I haven't given up. I plan to succeed in this school.

Overall Experience: I've had the best experiences attending San Jose State University. I've become apart of a huge community and I will always be thankful for that. I've experienced both good and bad, stressful and easy, but through it all I knew my school and the people at my school had my back. The classes for the most part are engaging, and the extracurriculars define the school spirit. I feel like within my first year, I grew immensely as a person and that's all thanks to my academics, friends, and support. There is no place like San Jose. It's diverse, organized, liberal, open minded, and includes something for everyone who attends.

Overall Experience: There is a huge career network within this campus. Alumni work everywhere from Silicon Valley to San Francisco and are always posting available jobs for specific majors. Employers and job fairs are always around, constantly hosting interview events. There are always emailed notifications from advisors that tell you what places are hiring and just how to go about the specific interview. SJSU tries to push you out the door into a better direction.

Health & Safety: Sadly, in downtown San Jose, you will experience lots of dangerous activity in the area when attending this school. The good aspect of it all is that campus security is quick and reactive. There are alerts you can get directly sent to your phone whenever there is an incident and emails that notify you when to be aware, which is convenient to have. Campus PD is right by housing, so you always know that there is someone nearby to help you. We have specific blue poles all around campus that when pressed directly call the campus PD, which is super reliable. There's always campus PD cars doing nightly drives around campus which make you feel much more safe when walking alone. Yet there is a good amount of crime in this area.

Campus Housing: I've come to experience that on campus housing has been the best way to make friends. Some of my closest friends at this school were people that lived in my own hallway. There is such a community that exists that provides helpful tools that make you feel less homesick. People are typically generous and friendly, not everyone of course, but most. The RAs are your friends for the most part and are great to go to when you have any kind of question. There's also lots of activities provided for those who live on campus, like group talks, bbqs, and much more.

Greek Life: Greek life holds the biggest involvement within our school, almost everyone is a part of it. I believe it's great because it forms a sense of community and allows students to bond together outside or a classroom atmosphere. At San Jose State, sororities and fraternities are not as cliquey as other schools. You are allowed to have your own life outside of Greek life, and you are not judged on physical features. I also love how my school's Greek life places such an importance on philanthropies. There are week long events and competitions that raise hundreds and thousands for great causes. Such has Heart to Heart Week or Puzzle Piece for Autism Week. It's truly inspiring people from all different sororities and fraternities come together for a specific cause. They also pay lots of attention to grades, and their goal is to bring a family you could grow with and rely on.

Athletics: Our athletics at San Jose State University are well run, even though we are not the best in the Mountain West Division. Attention mostly circulates around football, since we are a Division 1 school. For tailgates and homecoming the school spirit is outstanding. Thousands of students show up to cook, watch, and cheer and it's almost like you're walking through a sea of blue and gold. Our other sports do average in comparison to our football team, yet they are provided great facilities to practice in. I also know academics are regarded highly for athletes, and they have strict schedules that allow them to focus on school work while also getting better at their sport. SJSU athletics are on the rise and will soon be just as strong as the football team.

Overall Experience: I believe San Jose State University provides a diverse community where there are various amounts of involvement options. I believe that the school is unique in a way that they demand a focus on your studies yet encourage you to be apart of other things such as clubs, greek life, and student boards. They consistently send out emails specific to your major or of other activities non-major related that someone may be interested. Students don't just go to this school for classes, they are apart of a community once enrolled. I know I can rely on a lot of people in the clubs I am apart of to help me with my academics, my future career, or even just when I could use a helping hand. We are stronger together and I learned this at one of my favorite experiences, which was last year at my Freshman Orientation. We were taught there that we were an accepting group that many unique personalities learn to bond together. I've always loved that aspect and have found it to be very true. I believe San Jose State is a college that provides the best of academics and extracurriculars.

Campus Housing: The housing is really nice

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: If I could do it over again I would chose my school. I fell in love with the campus and everyone here is so nice

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: It's hard to graduate within 4 years because classes are hard to get. Nearly all majors are impacted I heard. On the bright side, most of the professors and teachers assistants I've encountered are fairly nice and willing to help.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: We're in Silicon Valley so we're surrounded by businesses. It may sound great but it's also intimidating because being at this school doesn't guarantee anything (obviously). There is a career center on campus that I haven't utilized yet but I do know they have job fairs every so often (some are major-specific so that helps) and they mentioned that they have staff that help students with interviews and resumes.

Campus Housing: I heard it's going to change really soon but when I was entering as a freshman, the only options were Campus Village C (CVC), Joe West, and the Bricks (Hoover, Royce, and Washburn). When I left for break, the school was in the process of building CV2 as a new dorm for freshmen and I heard they were tearing down the Bricks. CVC (and I'm assuming CV2) will definitely be more expensive because they're suites so it'd be 8 girls or guys living in one big suite with a living room and kitchenette. Joe West and the Bricks were typical dorms where it's a hallway with a bunch of rooms on either side that are either doubles or triples (there are singles but they're rare likely due to cost). CVC and CV2 will be more private but Joe West and the Bricks allowed more socializing because of the layout.

Greek Life: I've only heard about Greek life and parties from friends. They weren't a part of it but they got to go to a bunch of the parties and some do treat you differently when they hear you're not a part of any of the sororities or fraternities. I'm sure this varies from person to person. As for housing, a lot of the properties right across campus are Greek housing (their letters are displayed so it's easy to figure out which house belongs to which frat/sorority). The amount needed to actually be in a sorority or frat is a bit much because you have to pay for housing, dues, etc.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: It's convenient because I don't live too far away so if something happens, I always have commuting as an option (though that is the last resort seeing as how it is extremely inconvenient to do so what with schedules not always matching up). Living in a dorm was an extremely new experience but it taught me more responsibility and I got to meet people that I otherwise wouldn't meet because we didn't have any classes together. If I could do it all over, I definitely wouldn't rule out this school but I'm not sure if I would pick it over other schools due to personal preference. Most of my professors seemed really nice and so far, schoolwork has been decent; I definitely had to put in more effort than before but it's nothing that can't be handled.

Party Scene: SJSU is in the heart of downtown San Jose, so there is always something to do. If you are underage you can go to the movies, try the several food eateries around campus and more, or you can just go to parties.

4 College Sophomore

Party Scene: Parties are constantly happening whether it be i the dorms are in frat houses.
