Campus Housing: The housing is really nice

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: If I could do it over again I would chose my school. I fell in love with the campus and everyone here is so nice

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: It's hard to graduate within 4 years because classes are hard to get. Nearly all majors are impacted I heard. On the bright side, most of the professors and teachers assistants I've encountered are fairly nice and willing to help.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: We're in Silicon Valley so we're surrounded by businesses. It may sound great but it's also intimidating because being at this school doesn't guarantee anything (obviously). There is a career center on campus that I haven't utilized yet but I do know they have job fairs every so often (some are major-specific so that helps) and they mentioned that they have staff that help students with interviews and resumes.

Campus Housing: I heard it's going to change really soon but when I was entering as a freshman, the only options were Campus Village C (CVC), Joe West, and the Bricks (Hoover, Royce, and Washburn). When I left for break, the school was in the process of building CV2 as a new dorm for freshmen and I heard they were tearing down the Bricks. CVC (and I'm assuming CV2) will definitely be more expensive because they're suites so it'd be 8 girls or guys living in one big suite with a living room and kitchenette. Joe West and the Bricks were typical dorms where it's a hallway with a bunch of rooms on either side that are either doubles or triples (there are singles but they're rare likely due to cost). CVC and CV2 will be more private but Joe West and the Bricks allowed more socializing because of the layout.

Greek Life: I've only heard about Greek life and parties from friends. They weren't a part of it but they got to go to a bunch of the parties and some do treat you differently when they hear you're not a part of any of the sororities or fraternities. I'm sure this varies from person to person. As for housing, a lot of the properties right across campus are Greek housing (their letters are displayed so it's easy to figure out which house belongs to which frat/sorority). The amount needed to actually be in a sorority or frat is a bit much because you have to pay for housing, dues, etc.

Overall Experience: It's convenient because I don't live too far away so if something happens, I always have commuting as an option (though that is the last resort seeing as how it is extremely inconvenient to do so what with schedules not always matching up). Living in a dorm was an extremely new experience but it taught me more responsibility and I got to meet people that I otherwise wouldn't meet because we didn't have any classes together. If I could do it all over, I definitely wouldn't rule out this school but I'm not sure if I would pick it over other schools due to personal preference. Most of my professors seemed really nice and so far, schoolwork has been decent; I definitely had to put in more effort than before but it's nothing that can't be handled.

Party Scene: SJSU is in the heart of downtown San Jose, so there is always something to do. If you are underage you can go to the movies, try the several food eateries around campus and more, or you can just go to parties.

4 College Sophomore

Party Scene: Parties are constantly happening whether it be i the dorms are in frat houses.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: Some professors are tougher on students than other professors, and some teach better than others. If you want a great teacher make sure to check ratemyprofessor before signing up for the class.

5 College Sophomore

Diversity: SJSU is one of the most diverse campuses in California. The ethnic diversity offers a great environment to campus. Students are generally accepting of diverse students.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Alcohol and drugs in freshmen dorms is strictly prohibited and if caught you can get into a lot of trouble. Peer pressure does tend to play a factor into drinking and smoking.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: School spirit definitely needs to improve here, the only time people normally show up to games are to get drunk then leave. The teams at this school are very hardworking and improve greatly each year.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: I will discuss about police services. Even though I never had an incident that I needed to use police services, the campus policemen actively go around campus buildings to monitor the activity and make sure that no harm happens as much as possible.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: My first two favorite experiences in San Jose State University were joining clubs such as UNICEF and Materials Advantage. Another favorite experience was interacting with the student government because I got to know how individuals think with an open mind and put their full energy to ensure the students' chances of success in academics and social life. Being in the environment of San Jose State University is inspiring me to be a role model like others from the time I have spent there.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I love some of my professors, others are not as responsive and very difficult to get help from. There is a good mix.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Many students get jobs right out of SJSU, especially ones in my career path.
