College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: I live at home far from campus.

Administration: The stated policies are strict, but I am not sure about enforcement as I do not stay on campus much besides for academic purposes.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: My personal experience with financial aid was not a problem, but many other students found problems with administration/policy issues. Also, the time for processing financial aid was very lengthy.

Party Scene: Not much time to go out, and I hardly know what's going on when I'm not busy.

3 College Junior

Campus Food: Most places close by 8:30pm, so late-night meals require traveling off campus.

College Junior

Campus Housing: I do not live on campus

Campus Food: Though food is exceptional in my opinion. You can finals many times you like and get from chocolate chip cooks to claw to Kamba juice and everything in between. And if you more the healthy type of person there is a salad stand and it's always restocked hourly. And if you just want something different, you could go to the student union and find many chain food stores like Taco Bell, Panda Express, etcetera. So whatever mode you may be in there is definitely something here for you.

Campus Housing: Well going to a completely new place to live has it challenges. Especially the first few weeks where you need to find all your classes and make friends with roommates. Overall the dos are nice, slightly cramped though when it's 3 to a room. Amenities wise the showers are pretty good with warm water thank goodness. Furniture is a little out dates and mattresses are rough, but ya still a good little room.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: There is a diverse selection of off-campus dining options near school. All different cultural as well as chain restaurants are offered. There are numerous restaurants as well.

3 College Junior

Administration: Students can get away with underage drinking. If a student is found throwing up on campus grounds, a policeman will just make sure they have a buddy who walks them back to their dorm.

4 College Junior

Academics: The curriculum allows students to engage in a lifestyle of personal growth, healing, and learning. The skills needed in and out of the classroom.

4 College Junior

Party Scene: The best parties take place downtown or in the greek houses. They are positive because each of them promote diversity. Students of all cultural, social, and economic backgrounds are able to come together and relax from the stresses of school.

2 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: Rent is expensive. For your own room, you are going to pay at least $600. There are not many housing selections equipped with a washer and dryer.

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: The fact that any one is allowed on to our campus is scary. Our library is also open to the public. Even though there are blue lights on campus, which allow students to be escorted to their destination, I still feel unsafe. These SJSU alert text messages do not help that much either.

5 College Junior

Athletics: The university gives students an opportunity to play a sport and become student athletes in college themselves by offering a diversity of club sports and intramurals. For example there is co-ed volleyball and the salsa team (Spartan Mambo). If students are not part of those, they are found cheering along either at the football games or basketball games. Students are allowed to go to the games for free and by providing students with a plus one, fans for SJSU sports continually grow.

Greek Life: Greeks are not stereotyped on campus, as each and every person here at school is either or has a friend that is part of the Greek life. Greeks do not just hang out with other greeks.

Majors: All college students want to help people, it is just how that is different. I went into the university as a pre-nursing major and I had the vision to help people that way. However, after taking a recreation, tourism, and parks class (RECL 90), I found out my true passion underlies in the unique way to help people through play, pastimes, and hobbies. During Fall semester of 2013, I filled out an application to join the major. As I took the core class of the major, introduction to recreation therapy (Recl 112) over the winter, my passion grew. All of a sudden, I received a phone call by one of the professors in the major telling me that I was in. It was personal and I loved it.

Administration: The administration is strict but with moderation, they are strict in the areas that protect our safety the best.

They aren't so strict where it interfers with our academics, social life, etc.

Local Area: San Jose is a unique city unlike any other, i personally don't like it as i am more fond of San Francisco.

However peers of mine highly enjoy San Jose, there is plenty to do especially downtown for folks 21 and over.

Scholarships: Not only is staff rude, but they were charging me and threating me of dropping all my classes for not paying my tuition. However after being confirmed I'd be receiving financial aid and taking out loans, none of which kicked in leaving me to pay full tuition. After having to speak to several people and explain the situation and thankfully coming acoss some staff memebers that recognized it was the universities fault, they gave me my loan and financial aid money.

Academics: The professor i have had are all wonderful and the curriculum is outstanding. Professor and peer support is abundant at SJSU there are different mediums for receiving academic help throughout campus.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Housing around campus is mostly taken and or really expensive. The safety in downtown San Jose is not the best making it erie to live around.

Greek Life: I personally don't partake in Greek life and have heard both negative and postive things about Greek life. I don't artke in any sort of Greek life because it is simply not in my nature to do so. However compared to other schools and their Greek life, SJSU finds a happy medium. Greek life is present but doesnt carry all the spotlight.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Everyone is pretty casual yet a lot of people defiantly have their unique style and are not looked down on for it. It doesn't really matter your race of gender most people are accepting of you.

2 College Freshman

Campus Housing: For the price of room and board, the given quality is extremely poor and ridiculous. Aside from having to share a ridiculously small room, the bathrooms are filthy, and there seems to be a huge bug problem with in the dorm buildings.

First week in we found dead cockroaches in our room.
