Academic Experience: The workload from my course is alot but it has been worth it because it does help me out to remember things when taking a test. Internship opportunities are big at sjvc because the instructors and career services really take the time to help out and make calls for an intership to employers.

Overall Experience: My class experience is very good. Being in a private college has gave me an opportunity to learn at a better pase since the class size is small. The instructor gets a chance to work with us individually and help us with anything we need help in and alot of hands on training. Im taking a pharmacy technology course and the quality of it is great because the instructors provide us with extra information that can help us advance in our career and even look foward to more science related jobs.

Career Services: Career services at sjvc are great. They actually take the time to help out me and all of the other students with making resumes, cover letters, and also looking for jobs. They also prepare us to be ready for obstacles that will come once being interviewed with an employer and externships.

Academic Experience: My major is medical assisting. The workload is a lot especially with the terminology but in the end its all worth it. After I graduate my school will help me find a job so that I can get some work experience.

Campus Resources: There is always something going on at my school. For Halloween there are having a family event. Every month they have at least four big things on their schedule for the students to participate. There is no athletic center but the student center and the library is always open.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Any tuition is paid by the school which is great! Financial Aid is always there to help. i only have to pay about 50 dollars every month to pay off my loan on a 10- year plan. Its really helpful because then you feel the pressure of paying it off so quickly.

Career Services: I was incredibly disappointed to no be able to find a job after five months of job searching. My career adviser only landed me an interview and later I learned through classmates that she had been fired which explained why none of my emails had been replied to. I'm personally dealing with postponing my loans until re-enrolling in school in a different city that has more career opportunities.

Overall Experience: Literally a really good education and technical program with emphatic professors, cool student body and plenty of student resources.

Online Courses: I didn't enjoy online courses but it was tolerable.

Student Body: There were many people from different backgrounds, ages and ethnic groups. Some had gone back to school to pursue a degree while others where there for a career change. Some had already developed families and others were barely out of high school. Personally I didn't have much in common with many people on campus besides my career choice. Overall it's a lively student body with a deep focus on career goals.

Campus Resources: The student center had tutors for people who needed help with their general education classes. The ladies in charge of each shift were very helpful with computer problems as well as general questions about certain campus activities. The library was more resourced based for people with projects. In the end there was always ways to book personal appointments with teachers who could help with certain topics of projects or homework.

Academic Experience: There are various types of career programs at San Joaquin Valley College. They offer classes in medical, business and technical as well as general education. I feel that it adequately prepares us for real world were we are over prepared. The professors are accredited, encouraging and knowledgeable about their field. The curriculum is very strict about attendance as well as grades. The registration process is the only thing that takes time because of the financial aid process. The workload is heavy in each field but I find it fair since they only offer two classes for full time students. There are many study options and homework help from the student center, library, study groups and the teachers themselves. Overall it's a very good school with lots of options, opportunities and flexibility.

Academic Experience: My specific major is Clinical and Administrative Medical Assisting or CAMA. The program covered medical terminology, patient care, laboratory skills, vitals, First Aid and CPR, pathology, medical office, clinical studies, phlebotomy, injections, pharmacology, nutrition, insurance, coding and billing in addition to general education. The workload was a challenge only due to learning terminology and the basics of human anatomy. Despite the facility being a good size it had small classes of less than twenty people which was a lot more comfortable. There are required externship hours a student must complete to earn his or her degree at the end of their program. Job opportunities are very few in the valley and require years of experience which is why several student move away after completing their program.
