Off-Campus Dining

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Within walking distance to campus, there are not many options besides in the mall. It is cheap and typically quick, but it is mall food and often fast food. If you are willing to venture out further, there are tons of places to eat, but that is not too close to campus.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: SF has great food, pricey but worth the value!

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: The mall is a short walk from campus. It has the food court and few restaurants outside. Chipotle is a nice one to have as well as the Panda Express.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: I'm sure the off-campus options for food is a limitless variety, but my student budget of $8 a day for food limits me to most of those options.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Off campus dining is great. There are so many different types of food options that are close by or just a muni ride away. The food diversity is really great as well, there are many different ethnic types of food and a lot offer student discounts which are great.

San Francisco is famously known for its good eats, so students are more likely to travel off campus and taste all that the city has to offer. Most restaurants are pretty cheap, unless one is traveling far into the city, like into the Financial District. Popular cheap eats include the amazing sandwiches of Ike's Place in the Castro and Park Chow on Ninth and Irving.

Overall, any type of cuisine is capable of being found within the seven-mile stretch of San Francisco. While many are not within walking distance from campus, the city's vast public transportation system can take you anywhere. Vegans and meat-eaters alike will enjoy the menu of Herbivore, and when in the need for cheap Mexican food, El Castillito is the hottest spot. The prices can get a little steep as a student goes past the Castro district, but in the end, prices stay within students' ranges for the most part—unlike the housing prices.
