Health & Safety: If you don't feel safe you can ask or call a security guard to walk you where ever you need to go.

Health & Safety: Before the semester started, students had to complete a mandatory online course regarding sexual safety, drinking safety, and other hazardous situations that can occur.

Health & Safety: When I go in between my classes, I do see the SF police depatment pretty much everywhere in their motorcycles. Their always seeing if everyone is okay on campus, and that makes the school safer to be in.

Health & Safety: Well we have posts everywhere with a blue light that i guess you touch or press a button when you're in danger, i honestly don't know how to use it, but i know it's for emergencies. I guess you could say that makes you feel safe, but i feel as though anyone can walk in there at any time. It's obviously not a closed campus, but still, i dont feel totally safe knowing anyone can go in there because of the fact it's so close to the street and residential areas.

Health & Safety: I have never encountered a safety problem on or near campus.

Even though the school has seen its fair share of petty theft and midnight robberies and such, many of the students still feel very safe on campus. The San Francisco Police Department is conveniently located right next to the Library Annex, and the bicycle cops regularly patrol the school. The University even has sent out "Segway Cops" to patrol Parkmerced—the apartment complexes located right outside of the school, home mainly to SFSU students.

The bottom line to stay safe on campus is to follow the general guidelines students have heard again and again from parents. There is not a lot of serious crime in the SFSU area, so there is not much to be scared or worried about, but it's better safe than sorry. The amount of patrol officers and the easy access to the red alarm boxes on campus provide a safe zone for students.
