3 College Sophomore

Athletics: The games that I've attended are always exciting to attend, but in terms of fan support from other students, they aren't too enthusiastic about sports at the school because they either commute everyday and are too tired to care enough to put the extra energy to attend and support the games, or they just hold not interest for sports at the college level in general. The ones that attend are either friends of the players, family members of the players, or local alumni around the city that enjoy attending the games.

Athletics: can't complain, the big games are make known

Athletics: Brand New Gym this year!

2 College Freshman

Athletics: When I was in High School, I used to be the spirit comissioner for the rallies. Now that I go to SF State, I don't see any spirit at all. I mean they'll announce online or through an email that their is a basketball game. But other than that the spirit sucks at SF State.

Wait. What? SFSU has sports teams? Really? Never heard anything. The amount of students participating in sports is small in comparison to the large amount of students attending the University. School spirit is at a low, despite the trials and triumphs of various sports teams on campus. For a school with a population of more than 30,000, it is extremely unfortunate that students lack school spirit for sports that really deserve it.

Intramural sports seem to be a much more popular option on campus. Unlike varsity, fun sports such as SFSU's infamous coed rugby team are so popular in fact that they have fan-flooded Facebook pages. If a student is interested in joining a sport purely for fun and friends, the safest bet is to join one of the many intramurals, ranging from swimming to tennis.

School Spirit
School spirit is not a quality that many students have. Most first-year students are not happy to be going to a CSU school. But after the first year, school spirit jumps in popularity for upperclassmen. That is when the number of activities starts to blossom, like a personal SFSU pillow fight group and coed rugby.
Getting Tickets
Getting tickets to sporting events is both easy and cheap. Most evenings you can get in for free if you show your student ID card.
Best Place to Take a Walk
Lake Merced provides a 4.5-mile walk that is flat and has beautiful scenery of the lake, the wildlife, and the ocean landscape. There are benches throughout the walk, and many students and neighbors in the community use this path for biking and running.
