I am very thankful Alamo Colleges. Overall, they have been a great steppingstone into my college career. Most of the Professors truly cared about student success and were respectful of the fact that students have other things going on with their lives. Their systems do frequently mess up and that caused real problems for me and my financial aid in the Spring and Summer semesters in 2023. Thankfully, after several months, everything did get sorted. However, this did cause major problems for me and my family for months. The advisors also don't communicate very well and that basically wasted an entire semester for me once.
After taking a 2-year break, I definitely needed a refresher on the process of registering for classes, financial aid etc. The advisor that spoke with me, "Rosie", explained everything to me and was very patient whenever I had a question. The advising staff was all very pleasant even though I took forever registering for my classes. Good experience thus far!
After losing my hearing in 2019, I wasn't sure what my future was going to be. I have been a substance abuse counselor for over 24 years, SAC had one of the beat ASL classes in TX and have begun my journey to become an interpreter and continue my working in this field of substance abuse dependence, with the hearing impaired and deaf community.
