Party Scene: Greek life and school sponsored activities provide on and off campus options. Nearby city has more active clubs.

Party Scene: What party scene? Everyone is boring here. There are no parties and no one ever wants to go out to bars. It's pathetic here.

Samford does a great job of organizing activities during the week, which encourages students to leave their rooms and meet new people. Every Thursday night in Harry's Coffeehouse, local musicians, who are sometimes Samford students, put on small concerts where music lovers can relax and hang out. Sororities and fraternities raise funds by occasionally hosting events like pajama parties and even hiring a hypnotist for entertainment shows. Several times during the week, the theater and art departments offer cheap and occasionally free orchestra and drama productions. Tickets are half off for Samford students, and "convo credit" is often offered.

Thanks to Birmingham being a larger city, there are plenty of activities from which to choose outside of the University. Some students enjoy dancing in clubs, watching movies at the nearby dollar theater, and attending concerts of more popular artists. Fortunately, for late-nighters, Samford does not enforce any kind of curfew for its residents. Because many students commute or have families that live nearby, it is not uncommon for friends to have fun get-togethers at private homes. The variety of local restaurants enables students to eat supper elsewhere than the cafeteria, including places like Sonic and IHOP. Skates 280 is a popular roller skate rink that stays open until midnight on the weekends for people aged seventeen and older. While it is true that a large portion of students choose to go home on the weekends, the ones who stay are not without options for having a good time.

Club Eleven Twenty

This popular nightclub features a well-stocked bar and plenty of dancing space. The occasional smoky effect, which mists onto the dance floor, adds to the fun atmosphere and modern music playlist. If dancing is not your thing, you can still have a good time socializing on the couches and hum along to your favorite tunes. Because of its good location in a busier and well-lit part of town, this club is a favorite among Samford students and has proven to be safer than others.
