Administration: I feel like I am in elementary school all over again. Its like I am being babysat 24/7.

Campus Quality: Facilities are all fairly new. The athletic centers should increase its variety of machines and activities available.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: The social scene is horrendous. Samford is known as being a bubble campus and this is very true. Most of the kids come from the same background and have the same interest. If you do not share these same interests then you feel left out.

Campus Housing: It is a small campus and as a result of this classes are fairly close to all campus housing. The campus PD is very strict and go out of their way to try and catch students doing something against the rules.

3 College Sophomore

Technology: Having your own computer is pretty much a necessity. All the labs are in the library and are usually pretty full.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Food: The hours and food quality is pretty bad.

Greek Life: Greek life plays a big role at Samford, and more than half the students get involved with greek life.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Some of the scholarship requirements are ridiculous and the process is difficult.

4 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Samford is a dry campus, and most students do not partake in drug use. However, if a student would want to partake in these activities, it would not be too difficult to get your hands on them.

Greek Life: Greek life on campus is simply another way to get involved and meet new people. It is a wonderful way to develop community and do things for others. Greek life is not everything though. Greeks and non greeks are friends on campus, and being Greek or not does not keep you from associating with the other.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

Samford can be a wonderful experience for students. While the first semester can be extremely difficult, with students being away from their families and friends for the first time, things become easier with perseverance. Students first need to get out of their comfort zones and invest in the hilarious, wonderful people who make up the Samford population.

That being said, the people make the experience worthwhile, and there are always opportunities to meet new people, whether it's free concerts on the quad, chilling next to the fountain in Ben Brown Plaza, renting the Vail movie room for "Glee" nights, Step Sing, or worshiping at RUF (Reformed University Fellowship). These are just some of the many things students can experience at Samford. Plus, the caring professors instill in students not only knowledge, but wisdom, preparing men and women for the future every time they step into the classroom. The liberal arts aspect prompts many to draw endless comparisons and similarities between different classes, teaching students to see the "big picture." In addition, the various convo speakers shed new light on issues that matter, making students take on new points of view about things rarely given a second thought.
