Party Scene: If you're 21, there are an abundance of bars both within short driving distance or walking distance. Being in Chicago, we also have plenty of public transportation so no one HAS to be the DD.

3 College Junior

Party Scene: We are not a party school. That's great for those focused on academics, but it causes a lot of first years to complain. First years, as in underage drinkers who were told ahead of time that it wasn't a party school.

Academics: Our professors are generally fantastic. The curriculum isn't always great, but they do their best to make it engaging and interesting.

Diversity: The campus is extremely diverse. One likely wouldn't expect that from a Catholic institution, but the Sisters of Mercy actually make it more diverse by being so focused on making others feel loved, cared for, and accepting (I'm not even religious and I adore them!). We have a large variety of religions, ethnic backgrounds, etcetera on campus and the majority of students are kind, accepting, and open to questions as well. Even complete strangers will support and stand up for each other here.

Drug Safety: Generally, as long as you are inside your dorm, only the RA's would notice and the majority of them don't want the paperwork so they will only investigate if given probable cause, which is reasonable, but I have had several nights were I couldn't sleep or do homework because my neighbors were partying.

Overall Experience: The courses and the professors are great. The majority of the profs that I have encountered are extremely knowledgeable in their fields and passionate about teaching and student success. Generally, the standardized courses (general chemistry, for example) are not as good as the courses more designed by the professors.

Overall Experience: We receive regular updates about internships and job opportunities in topics related to our majors, I am currently in an internship because of this. However, I feel like our school still struggles with notoriety. For example, I am a pre-medical student, but many of the graduate programs that I am looking at have never heard of SXU or their program requirements are not addressed via SXU's pre-health track. However, the professors will work with you to change your class schedule to meet the needs of the graduate program, you just have to know what the needs are and be willing to spend a lot of time with professors :)

Health & Safety: Financial cuts have been made to our public safety program which I view strongly as a problem. Prior to that,l all of the residence halls were monitored 24/7 and I felt extremely safe. There is still public safety patrolling campus in their vehicles at all hours and they are very friendly and you very much so get the feeling that they are there to keep you safe.

Campus Housing: Other than the cost, it's fabulous. The suites for sophomores-seniors are spacious and comfortable. Even the first year residence hall is pleasant, it's very well cleaned, although the boys wings smell bad, and there is a large sense of community, especially for those that make a point to attend the many many events.

Athletics: Personally, I don't have much interest in athletics. The on-campus gym is very nice and it's great that it's included in our tuition. For those interested in sports, they are very prevalent on campus, but I spend most of my time in the library or research lab where they are less mentioned.

Overall Experience: For the price, one would expect more. They have a tendency to put money where it doesn't need to go rather than enhancing what needs it. For example, as a biology student, I was promised a great facility to practice and research in, but, the labs are less updated than those that I had in middle school. Priorities need to be straightened out.

4 College Senior

Health & Safety: Security is readily available 24/7

3 College Senior

Athletics: I am not an athlete so I can't really comment.

3 College Senior

Overall Experience: Has excellent scholarship opportunities and adult education programs.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: The safety on campus was good, I have had problem.

Campus Housing: The dorms are basic dorms but one plus is that they have a sink.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: The facilities are a man reason I came to this school.

Overall Experience: I felt very welcome at Focus and on the first day. The professors were very helpful and they were approachable. I am an athlete at my college and the facilities are very nice.

4 Recent Alumnus

Overall Experience: I was challenged and I met alot of amazing people!

Overall Experience: Absolutely loved the small classes. It was much easier to focus, get to know your peers, and your professors will know you better!

Overall Experience: SXU is known for producing some of the best teachers, and I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. Less than 2 months after graduating, I was already offered a teaching position. Neighboring schools LOVE SXU graduates!

Overall Experience: If you're looking to party, this isn't the school for you. But, if you're someone who is serious about education, and your future, this is the place for you. I feel like the university only gets a bad reputation because people expect it to be some big party school. SXU takes pride in their education, and that should be the number one reason as to why people choose the school that they do. I am an alum who graduated a month ago, and already have a job in my field. Choosing Saint was the best decision I could have made, and I really appreciated the professors and small class sizes. Go cougs!

Party Scene: Honestly, I do not stay on campus to observe what night life is like. I have heard that events are fun, but I have never heard of parties
