I have loved SMC since the minute I stepped foot on campus. My classes are interesting, challenging, but not overly competitive, my dorm life experiences were welcoming and full of friendly girls, and the support systems on campus for struggling students are excellent, personal, and always available -- just to name a few things. SMC is a unique environment of all women, making it a perfect place to explore and find your own voice as a woman in the world. It provides a wonderful platform for success in the world, no matter what field you choose, by providing you with excellent writing skills, communication skills, and real world experience in the pre-professional majors.

Also, the social life is special. I have found my lifelong friends at SMC, something I am so grateful for, and our friendship was fostered because of the campus's quiet social scene. The social life on our campus is quiet -- Notre Dame or off campus are the places to party -- but that allows for real friendships to grow in the quiet and warm communities of our dorms.

The relationship with Notre Dame is tricky and sometimes problematic, but it does afford SMC some wonderful advantages. For example, SMC students can purchase student season tickets to football games (and other sports), can take up to 2 ND classes a semester at no additional charge, can use all their academic facilities (libraries, labs, etc), and are welcome to join their clubs, sports, and activities. This gives SMC a best-of-both-worlds feel, where our campus is small, quiet, and close knit and the campus across the street is large, social, has Division 1 sports, and is a research university. We can have and participate in both.

If I could do the college process all over again, I would always choose SMC. It is the right place for me and for many other young women, and I cannot sing its praises enough!

The strong community based atmosphere among students and teachers make classes more interesting and make college my home away from home. Professors know me by name, want me to succeed, and take the time to help me reach my goals. The student body is a supportive, genuine, and caring group of women who I have shared many memories with and whom have always been there for each other. I would choose Saint Mary's College again and again if I had too. This all-women's institution has provided me with many opportunities, expanded my thinking, and has truly given me a second home and family. I am in love with my Saint Mary's education! Go Belles!

I FEEL THAT THE OFF-CAMPUS DINING OPTIONS ARE PRETTY STANDARD NEAR MY COLLEGE. THERE IS A STRIP OF FAST FOOD RESTAURANTS NOT FAR FROM SCHOOL AND OF COURSE ALL OF THE NATION WIDE PIZZA JOINTS. MOST OF THESE PLACES ARE VERY CONVENIENT. THEY HAVE EXTENDED HOURS AND RUN PROMOTIONS AROUND FINALS. AN EXAMPLE IS FROM THE PAPA JOHNS THAT DELIVERS TO MY CAMPUS. A LARGE PIZZA DURING FINALS WEEK IS $7, AND MY SCHOOL'S "MUNCH MONEY" CAN BE USED TO PURCHASE PIZZA, BREAD STICKS, AND ALL OTHER MENU ITEMS. THE MOST POPULAR SIT DOWN RESTAURANT IS CHIPOTLE. THE LINE IS ALWAYS OUT OF THE DOOR! IT DOESN'T PROVIDE A STUDENT DISCOUNT, BUT WHY WOULD THE OWNER WHEN ALMOST ALL OF THE NOTRE DAME COMMUNITY DINES THERE.
