Greek Life: There are not houses that people live in but that makes them safer and less cliquey

Athletics: Our teams aren't great but a lot of money goes into trying to make them good.

Greek Life: Greek life is a big part of Campus life however, it's not for me so I just never joined. I don't feel left out in any way at all.

Athletics: There are tons of sports teams at Rutgers, but they are all struggling with recently being inaugurated into the Big Ten, so they competitions are not that competitive and exciting to attend.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: My school has been a great experience both academically and socially. I've met many new people and made tons of new friends. The professors and the classes here are also challenging, yet rewarding.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: There are many safety measures and police.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Rutgers is very diverse and offers many oppotunities

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: There are many job opportunities and internships.

Campus Housing: The dorms are very clean and safe.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: There are many sororities and fraternities.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: There are many sports facilities available.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Rutgers tries to be as safe as possible. There are many police patrolling at night and sufficient light in the campus areas outside. Downtown New Brunswick is a little scary and not student friendly--probably shouldn't be travelled by students at night.

Overall Experience: The professors are overall pretty great. Every professor I've had seems to really care about what they're teaching and enjoy it themselves. In saying that, they could work on getting this message out to students better. I've had a few professors that were ridiculously boring to the point that paying attention in class was extremely difficult. There are a side variety of classes and opportunities, though it is often difficult to get the class you want/need, which is problematic.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Opportunities at Rutgers are superfluous and seem generally easily accessible. There are always job/internship fairs and websites that allow student to explore both of those.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Living on campus is okay. Students are unfriendly and only want to go out and drink; nothing going for them personality wise. RA was almost never available and did not enforce rules. People do not clean up after themselves and are overall selfish and immature when it comes to treatment of facilities. Rooms are nice enough, if not a bit ice-boxy. More spacious than expected for a double. Building temperatures are horrendous; it is almost always way, way too hot, to the point that windows needed to be open during the winter months because the rooms were boiling. No AC and rules against bringing your own to the dorm make summer months terrible as well.

Greek Life: I'm not a fan of Greek life and, frankly, I don't care about it. They're campus annoyances.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: I'm not involved in sporting activities, but others seem to really enjoy them, even if I believe too much of my tuition money goes to a program I don't have any affiliation with or interest in. The school's gym facilities are generally nice, but not well-equipped enough to satisfy the amount of students looking to use them.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I'm not sure I would pick Rutgers if I could do the selection process over. It's a bit too large for me, and feels quite lonely sometimes. Then again, I've met (a few) wonderful people. The programs rank well and the opportunities are excellent, which is why I chose it in the first place.

2 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I get a crime alert on my phone almost daily, and my roommate and friends were victims of crime this year. There is gun violence, knife violence, and assault on a regular basis.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: The big classes and little help on difficult subjects stresses me out. I am here for an education and nothing more.

The courses are tough at Rutgers. TAs mainly don't speak English, and you can never find a parking spot. However, despite these things, after the first week of your freshman year, you realize Rutgers is different than other schools. Diversity is definitely something that makes Rutgers stand out-the friends you will meet at Rutgers will make you realize that you like Indian music and Persian food, and
you'll go to friends houses during their Jewish holidays. Students will learn to live with all different people, despite different backgrounds, and smile and laugh the nights away in the dorms.

It is a very large university, and professors won't realize or care if you are failing a course. However, students remark that they wanted to attend a large university because it makes them grow up. At Rutgers, no one holds your hand as you pick courses (and there's 4,000 to choose from), and they don't make sure you are taking the courses necessary for your major. Everything is done by the actions of the students. If you want real life experiences instead of a college resembling your high school, you'll find it here.
