Guys & Girls

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: I'm not looking for a relationship at the moment, but most of the guys here are attractive and nice. I'm familiar with mostly music majors, so, obviously, they are interested in music. Some are interested in sports and video games as well. Most guys that I see dress fairly well. The social scene here is pretty goos if you're willing to put yourself out there and talk to a random person.

3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Like a wise man once told me. "No one person is the same, that's why there are many colors in the crayon box".

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Not the best looking school, but not the worst.

3 Recent Alumnus

Guys & Girls: I'm in grad school. I usually don't meet people except for work and class.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: This is a good-looking campus, both guys and girls. People generally care about their appearance. Guys in general seem to be very into weed, hip hop and edm, and partying. The girls are a little more preppy, but surprisingly very nice. Relationships exist, especially during cuffin season, but the campus is more dominated by the hook up culture. A fair amount of people are on tinder, and people are very open about wanting casual sex.

Rowan’s dating scene is like a Greek tragedy. There is always angst, plenty of tears, and several stops to the nurse for a pill or a shot—and that’s the truth. One thing is certain: there is something for everyone here, and, like the cafeteria, it can turn into a virtual all-you-can-eat buffet. Both genders have their strengths and weaknesses. To find the right kind person, look in the places that interest you, whether it's a club or even the library. Above all else, the most important thing to do is to take it slow—but then, who wants to hear that in college?

The biggest problem with dating on campus is that everyone seems to know everyone else. Facebook has taken away the mystery of new love. Nowadays, students can go online and look up a person they may have talked to on campus to see who he or she really is. The girls at Rowan are generally pretty and do good jobs of making themselves look so; however, there are some who look like dancers in the cast of Michael Jackson’s "Thriller" video. If you are a girl who is considering Rowan, your mystery is your secret weapon. Keep them guessing about you, and it will only make them want you more. If you are a guy who is considering Rowan, slow down in pursuing girls. Rowan girls seem to like guys who don’t need a lot of numbers—sometimes, it only takes one.

Social Scene
The Rowan University social scene is just like one of those Academy Award dramas where you want it to end as soon as it starts. Because Rowan is smack-dab in the heart of Glassboro, otherwise known as "Nowheresville," students tend to create their own social networks through house parties and trips outside of town, which is probably why the Greeks on campus are so prevalent.
Hookups or Relationships?
One word to describe the relationship scene on campus is melancholy. There are some who find the loves of their lives here, but more often than not, most students hook up randomly.
Dress Code
Students wear diverse styles that suit their personalities. There are certainly a few trendsetters, but as with most places in New Jersey, casual is the operative word. Among the girls, leggings and brighter colors seem to be coming back. Influences from the '80s and '90s are heavy among most girls here, with the purposefully sloppy tops and slim jeans. Guys have now adopted the slim jeans look, too, but the jury is out on whether it's a sound fashion choice.
