All Around Good School – Academics of course is a very important part of my school, all the students take pride in their education. In the classroom the professors encourage the students to ask questions and to come in for help if it is needed. The professors really care if the students are doing well. The curriculum varies for each student depending on their major, but overall it is challenging and appropriate for each student, with options for double majoring or minoring, studying abroad, etc. The workload is demanding but if the students schedule their time wisely, every task can be completed on time. The school offers several options for students that need extra help such as the Learning Center, where you can go for free tutoring, the teachers hold scheduled office hours where you can go in and ask questions and there are also SI sessions in which the upperclassmen student instructors help with any questions or confusion the students may have. I have taken advantage of all these options and they all really helped me with classes I was struggling in. The classes are pretty small; my biggest class had a max of about 60 students. I like the smaller classes because it gives me more time to ask questions during class. Registering for classes could be improved, sometimes the classes we need get full very quickly, but there are options for those situations. In the end all the students will get into the classes they need, but registering can be a pain. The campus is really nice, small enough to have a friend around all the time but big enough to meet new people. There is always something to do since we are in the heart of Kansas City. I'm going to be a sophomore in the fall, and I am very happy with my college choice!

Be Smart Not Stupid – Basically, students can get away with things like underage drinking and sneaking people in the dorms after the curfew time (freshman halls only) but if you are caught then there are serious consequences. People underage that are caught with alcohol have to pay a fine, take an alcohol education class and the parents are notified. If the opposite sex is caught in one of the freshman halls after curfew that individual will be put on a 3 month probation during which they cannot be caught again and if they are they will be written up and will have to attend a meeting with the Board. Security cameras are always around and on so if security notices anything going on they have full right to enter a dorm room or dorm hall to take care of the situation. This year a couple of freshman girls on my floor were coming inside the dorm building, a security guard heard them talking about drinking and he followed them up to their room and looked around and found bottles of alcohol hidden under the bed. Both girls were punished. Overall, Rockhurst is pretty strict but they do allow second chances, of course depending on the severity of the action. Basically, be smart and don't do anything stupid!

Spirited Few Prove Contagious During Post-Seasons – The facilities are incredible (multiple gyms, weight rooms, well-kept fields, racquet ball courts). However, as a small campus community that is NCAA Division 2, there is not an overwhelming amount of school spirit at games. It is there if you are interested. And for those interested, specifically in the soccer team, the fans are incredible! Students traveled from Missouri to Pennsylvania by car in one weekend just to cheer on the Hawks at the Elite 8.
