4 College Freshman

Parking: I don't have a car, but I almost never hear complaints about it.

4 College Freshman

Parking: All around Rhodes does a great job with parking!

3 College Freshman

Parking: Parking is free, but the freshman are allowed to park explicitly in one lot on the very back corner of the school. Depending on where your dorm is this can be a pain, but once you're a sophomore or above you can park in whatever lot you like.

5 College Freshman

Parking: At Rhodes, freshmen are allowed to have cars. I personally don't have one, but I usually find a friend to drive me around. Next year I plan on bringing one to campus. I haven't heard anything about ticketing. I signed up for the ZipCar program they kept advertising and it was pretty bad. It is fairly expensive and there is a volume limit on the stereo, which is annoying.

2 College Junior

Parking: Parking has become a nightmare as the school accepts a larger number of freshmen. Students try to get away with parking in the faculty/staff lots to be closer to their dorms and classes. I'm a commuter, and I have to leave home early just to ensure that I get a decent parking spot.

As the freshman class increases each year, parking becomes more of an issue since Rhodes does not currently have plans to add another lot. The freshmen are only allowed to park in their own lot, which isn't too far from the dorms, unless you live in Bellingrath or Glassell, which are on the other side of campus. Students do complain that parking isn't the most convenient since spaces are rather far away from most major buildings on campus. Still, the problems are minimal, especially compared to those of a bigger school.

Not only are all students allowed to bring a car, but also, since the campus is so small, there isn't even a huge need to drive from class to class unless you're feeling extremely lazy. There aren't parking lots that are miles from the dorm rooms or ridiculous fines or parking decal expenses, either, and students feel pretty secure that their car won't get broken into if it's parked on campus (the same cannot always be said for those who decide to park on the street outside the gates, though).
