5 College Sophomore

Party Scene: I haven't gone to any clubs, but the nightlife is really what you make it.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: They are so good and so tuff at the same time. The work never goes away, but if you have a strong work ethic and like to be pushed really hard, you should apply to this school.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: They have a lot of Majors, so it depends on what your going for. Freshmen's get to do projects that relates to the majors here so by the end of their freshmen year, they'll know what major to take. All the majors are tuff, but the easiest will be Illustration.

Drug Safety: Im fine with it. Im a lot older than some students and I know they want to try new things, but after a year yo rarely see them do drugs. But, there has been a growing number of Koreans smoking cigarettes..

Local Area: Most people are very friendly on the streets. I feel so comfortable living in Providence, there's a lot of things to do. Since you'll be a RISD student, there wouldn't be enough time but the weekends I seen a lot of people go to Boston or Newyork during the weekend.

Scholarships: It was easy, nothing hard about it. :)

Campus Quality: I like the student life, sometimes you'll get to hangout with your friends or a club at RISD. But, majority of your time will be spent working and some people you won't see in a couple of days. Since I was a transfer student, I didn't have to go to the orientation, but it was really worth seeing new people and making new friends.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: They have everything you will ever need to do your projects.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Most of the girls there looks way better than some of the guys up there. So confused, but I guess the girls here try to find someone that are very outgoing, but 60% of the guys here are on the border of being boring. But don't worry, some girls find guys from outside their race or guys at J&W or Brown.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Never have to worry since Im a guy. The most action you will get , is the homeless asking for money.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: Some people go into Hockey, Basketball, Football, Soccer; but a lot of people do other physical activities like Hiking, Biking, Kickboxing, Boxing, Yoga

5 College Sophomore

Diversity: Everyone is welcoming of who you are and your sexual orientation. A lot of people come from different parts of the world, but as long as you have talent; the people will like you here no matter of your color, creed, or religion.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

Many students love and hate RISD at the same time. The workload may be extremely demanding, but RISD students are not coming to receive the typical college experience. They are coming to get in touch with a community of artists that will enrich their understanding of art as a medium. RISD students come to gain access to an amazing amount of resources and equipment, which enable them to push their art form as much as possible. They aren’t looking for the big party school or a Greek scene—they are coming here to find themselves, to be individuals, and excel in their individual talents.

RISD students work very hard and are rewarded in the end. Many feel they are prepared to enter some sort of job or pursue a way to become active professionals in their field. In many ways, RISD is like boot camp for art, but it’s also an amazing opportunity for students to make the work that they want, while learning about themselves and their surroundings in the process. Once students let go of any ideas of what college is supposed to be, they will realize that RISD is not only a completely unique and exhilarating experience, but also provides a degree that holds a lot of weight in the professional world and skills that will serve students for their entire lives. Ask any RISD student, and they will say that as much as they complain, they would never go anywhere else.
