3 College Freshman

Campus Food: There's limited variety, but it's edible.

2 College Freshman

Campus Food: Terrible. Minimal choices, same things over and over again. Either tasteless or gross.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: Everything usually tastes alright. Sometimes there is no food available during the transitions from breakfast to lunch and lunch to dinner, which I have seen take up to 45 minutes.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: Food on campus is not that bad. sometimes it can get boring and repetitive.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: As a freshman, I never used all my swipes for the week. It was really nice to be able to get To-Go meals with the extra swipes. The dining halls close earlier on Fridays and Saturdays, which was inconvenient as an athlete getting back from an event around 7pm and not having dinner available.

Flex is wonderful!

One way to get around being forced to have a meal plan Sophomore year is to go Greek and live in your respective house.

They are slowly coming up with more meal plan options for people to cater to our needs, but it's a working progress.

The variety in the dining halls and in the Union is good, but the food is passable and no better. Special-need diets, such as vegetarians and vegans, can find it difficult to find an appropriate meal. The smaller food carts scattered throughout campus also provide students a quick bite between classes if they can't make it to a dining hall when they are in a rush. The dining halls themselves offer many different all-you-can-eat options, and though the food is rather expensive, it is at least filling.

As far as college food goes, Rensselaer's dining services are middle of the road. Students appreciate the variety and try to mix it up so they are not always eating the same thing everyday, but eventually, even that gets old. The food is tolerable, and the seemingly limitless choices help keep things fresh for the students.
