    Washington & Lee University

    • Lexington, VA
    • 384 reviews
College Senior:I love this place. If I had to make this decision again 1000 times over, I would make the same choice every time. W&L has given me so many opportunities for personal and intellectual growth. I've had many firsts here, and some lasts as well. The professors are amazing and really care about the students and their success. I've house/pet sat and had dinner at my professors' homes, and I see them all the time at Kroger and at restaurants in town. I have close relationships with my academic advisors and can talk to them about anything. Residence life freshman year was awesome and everyone got the shared experience. By the time recruitment rolled around in January, we were all on even footing and more comfortable with the upperclass women, which made the experience more enjoyable. I pledged a sorority and never looked back. I love my sisters and the way the Greek Life and campus life fit together like two puzzle pieces; it's like no other college I've seen or heard of, in that respect. Because 85% of students participate, greek life at W&L is open and inclusive with minimal infighting. (That said, the rumor mill is unreal here. Everyone knows everything.) As an athlete I've gotten close with my team, but widespread student body support of athletics is nonexistent. For instance, it's school tradition to leave football games at halftime. I love living off campus and having my friends live off campus where we can hang out together in a more comfortable, relaxed environment. Some of my best memories are in off campus houses either partying or just having a quiet night with friends. The honor system is REAL. Yes, some do cheat, but as a school, we don't condone it at all. The professors trust us implicitly and I've enjoyed the freedom to take tests whenever I want (within a certain period) and have keys to all the classrooms in my department. I know this is really long, so some highlights to finish it off: House mountain hikes, Fancy Dress, and the greatest people ever.

College Sophomore:I would never want to go to any other college. The University of Alabama is by far the best fit for me. Everything from the football to the clubs to the professors, is amazing. I have never once felt like I didn't have a place to fit into the school. Every professor I have had as made me feel like they truly care about my education and are willing to help me.

College Junior:The program I'm taking here is very hard to find at other colleges, and is one of the best out of all the schools that offer it. Additionally, being a bus and train ride away from home is really nice. And most of all the people that go here are all really great. I've made amazing friends here.

Recent Alumnus:I am a recent alumnus so I will be a bit biased but I will also as objective as possible with my review...

First things first, I would honestly give this school a 4.5, or a 9/10... not a 10. Mostly for this upcoming reason.

    CONS:

This school is CRAZY CRAZY CRAZY expensive lol. Was my degree worth it, the alumni network, prestige, job opportunities, etc? YES.. But SMU is still WAYYYY TOO expensive. This is the most expensive school in Texas and by a GOOD MARGIN actually lol(I believe it's around 8-10k more than TCU, 2nd most expensive lol). Thus, the "MRS" thing at SMU is fairly accurate lol.

    PROS:

    Where to begin...

My whole family went to either UT or Rice, so I had pressure growing up to attend those schools. I chose SMU easily and (despite the CRAZY tuition) I would do it ALL OVER AGAIN.

When you go to college you want to gain a few things:

    1. Life experience

    2. A solid education

    3. Friends/opportunities to last a lifetime

    4. Strong alumni network (SMU has a VERY STRONG one!)

    5. Degree weight/worth/value

    6. Opportunity

    7. A GOOD job

You will get ALL OF THOSE at SMU. Upon graduation I had no trouble getting job offers, particularly in Dallas and ALL THROUGHOUT Texas. The other 2 major cities that come to mind: Houston and Austin, I had DOZENS of offers and meetings from those areas lol. It just came down to where I wanted to live in the end, honestly lol. They were ALL good jobs! The "recognition/prestige' of being SMU alumni is almost UNMATCHED in Texas. If you plan to stay in Texas after graduation, you will be JUST FINE(trust me) lol.

The friends i've met, made, and kept from my days from all background SES, racial(SMU is more diverse than you think), Greek or NON Greek, I have and will keep for a lifetime. I also PERSONALLY know 2 people who got into Harvard Law and 1 to Harvard Med from SMU undergrad.

SMU pushes you to bring the best OUT OF YOU, work hard, do right, do well, carry/present yourself well and Pony Up!

College Junior:I love the University of Arkansas campus, it's so beautiful in the fall. Although I do feel like there is too much focus on the greek life, the school still does a lot to promote diversity. I am so proud that my school does not support a rape culture, and they take matters of assault very seriously. And you really can not beat the tailgating and football games!

College Junior:I love the resources available to students on campus at Butler University. There are so many networking opportunities, leadership opportunities, and professors are always willing to make sure you are learning in the classroom. I feel very connected to the Butler community of care and if feels like a giant family here. There is always something free to do, as well. For example, movies on the weekends, trips to sporting events, lazer tagging, concerts, etc... Butler is the best.

College Junior:I'm absolutely in love with the University of Missouri! A couple weeks before leaving for college I was second guessing my choice and thinking that I should go somewhere closer to home but decided to stick with it and ending up falling in love. The distance doesn't bother me at all because I have made the absolute best friends and I have such a great support system I would consider family down here. I switched my major recently and love it! The teachers are fantastic and really care about teaching and making sure you understand what they're teaching.

    Stephen F Austin State University

    • Nacogdoches, TX
    • 2,307 reviews
College Student:This was my dream school since 8th grade. Though it has its downfalls & uphills, it is great campus with great people and professors who are there to help you learn. Don't get bogged down with all the negative and choose to look at the positives about what you want to do in life and how going here will get you there. I wouldn't have picked anywhere else to go to get my degree(s), I have fallen in love with the staff, location, and opportunities.

    University of Southern California

    • Los Angeles, CA
    • 3,282 reviews
College Sophomore:It feels extremely personal. There are opportunities everywhere and especially as an engineer we're encouraged to mix and match the parts of USC that matter to us. For me, I work on campus doing research, I'm head of a club, I'm a student ambassador, I'm in a design club and that's my life within the school. But someone else in my major is on the varsity hocket team, in totally different clubs etc. So life here feels extremely personalized and I like that. The school also has a ridiculous amount of resources for its students, at least within engineering. There is so much energy put into the well-being of the students that it always feels like you have a strong support network.

    Fight on!

    University of Oklahoma

    • Norman, OK
    • 2,506 reviews
College Senior:Norman, Oklahoma has become home to me. I grew up not far from the Norman campus, just about twenty minutes down I-35. When I was applying to colleges my senior year, I was determined to get far away from small-town Oklahoma. Unfortunately, or so it seemed, out-of-state tuition did not seem worth it when I took into account my goal of one day attending pharmacy school. To my surprise, I discovered that Norman is its own little community, far different from anything around it and far different from the small-town I grew up in. Norman is not small-town Oklahoma. It is the perfect mixture of people. I believe that the wide array of people living in Norman-- all coming from different cultures, backgrounds, and religions-- make it unique to any other city in Oklahoma. Along with that, our campus is truly one of a kind. The architecture and landscaping are breathtaking. Moreover, I will forever believe that the best way to spend Saturday afternoon is at the Oklahoma Memorial Stadium watching Sooner football.

    DePauw University

    • Greencastle, IN
    • 487 reviews
College Sophomore:The strong sense of community and support that the small school atmosphere provides has been an incredibly positive experience for me. In addition, the small class sizes help professors foster highly intellectual and productive relationships with students. The average student at DePauw is very motivated, curious, and intelligent. These characteristics make the students at DePauw very unique because not only do they have big dreams but they also have the determination and support to make them happen. DePauw students unofficial motto of "Work hard, play hard" describes why I would choose DePauw all over again if given the opportunity. The balance of rigorous academics with positive social experiences that allow students to decompress and prepare for the upcoming week of classes is why DePauw University was the right choice for me.

College Junior:Bucknell is absolutely a top tier school and deserves to be there. Unlike many top schools though, it is difficult to get into and it remains difficult throughout the years. You truly have to earn your grades in the vast majority of majors. You will learn a lot at Bucknell, and that includes learning how to fail.

College Senior:LSU has provided me with so much more than just your "typical" college experience. My classes have been challenging, and my professors have always expected the highest quality of work from me and my peers. I would more than recommend this beloved school to anyone willing to listen. Take it from me, whose graduating class consisted of only 21 girls, LSU has become a home away from home. However, I am becoming increasingly aware of how quickly my time at LSU has come and gone. Make the most of it while you can! Geaux Tigers. Forever LSU.

I have been exposed to hundreds of recruiters who want to hire OSU grads. The campus is gorgeous, the university cares about its students and the tradition at OSU is unparalleled. I took 5 college campus tours in high school and decided on OSU as soon as my tour was over. I would not want to attend any other school.
