4 College Freshman

Academic Experience: teachers are great know what they are doing

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: everyone is really super nice and helpful when I needed it, I love attending RCC

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: I am in my second semester of my freshman year and so far all of the classes have been great, with the exception of my first English class. The courses that I have taken so far have been good, I have learned a lot in the short time that I have been attending college. The professors that I have had so far have gone beyond and above to make sure that all the students in class know and understand what is being taught. They have no problems stopping to explain any part of the curriculum as needed for students. Class styles and sizes are great.

Overall Experience: The student life center does a good job with getting local companies to come in a set up and recruit students to their companies.

Academic Flexibility: My experience at school so far has been great. I am in classes with a good group of students and we all get along great, we even go eat lunch together and keep in touch with each other after classes and on the weekends. So far the flexibility hasn't been an issue me because currently I am unemployed but looking for an evening part-time job. I am not looking to transfer to another college so I can not comment on the ease of transferring credits.

Online Courses: The only online course I have had so far is English. Personally I don't think English should be offered/taught online, there are so many difficulties with English that need immediate answers to complete the assignment and having to wait on the instructor to get back with you is irritating. My first English professor was less than helpful, she was not easy to contact and came across as "don't ask her questions, she doesn't have time for it", so far my second English professor has been ten times more helpful and a lot more easy to contact and get feed back from on questions.

Career Services: The student life center and counselors are great to work with on finding companies in your career field that are looking to hire. I have been told by former students and some of the instructors that local companies will first contact RCC looking for new hires before posting job openings to the public. I know of a company in Virginia that will consider RCC graduates over other community college graduates, because of the level of teaching in the machining field that is taught.

Academic Experience: The workload is very fair, the curriculum is good, the instructors are great, they really care about the students and making sure that we learn at the highest levels possible and take time to explain things in way that are easy to understand. They are known for placing a lot of their students in jobs as soon as they graduate.

Overall Experience: I did research before deciding on Randolph Community College. I spoke with several people in the community, former students, and even with people in the machining industry, and they all had the same answers, when you graduate from RCC you will know what is required to obtain a career in the Machining industry. Several of the companies went as far as to say they contact RCC to find out if the Machining Department has any students getting ready to graduate that they would recommend for hire.

4 College Sophomore

Online Courses: I love online course. They allow me to complete my assignments at any time of the day and take notes.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: It is a community college so for my career as a nurse i would need to go on and complete a BSN degree.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The college is small so classes typically are around 30 people.

3 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: I start the main aspect of my major next semester, so this doesn't apply as much.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The teachers are very friendly.

3 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: When trying to schedule for classes this semester, most of the classes that I needed were almost during the same time which forced me to get some evening classes.

4 College Junior

Online Courses: I am currently taking an online course and it has been quite easy to understand. Students have the opportunity to discuss with each other and the professor is available for any questions or concerns.

3 College Junior

Career Services: There has not been much help on obtaining a job after graduating. The enfasis has been more on how to transfer to another college.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: Most teachers are friendly and are willing to slow down and explain anything that the class did not understand. Most of my classes usually have about twenty students.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: There are some companies who will come to campus and try to recruit students who are majoring a specific degree that is specific to their company.

4 College Junior

Academic Experience: I am planning on obtaining an associates in science. I have received help from staff and recommendations as to what classes to take that will transfer.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: Teachers and staff show interest in students. It is a small and friendly campus. Attending RCC was a good decision as the costs are significantly lower than public and private universities.

3 College Junior

Online Courses: Online courses lack overall because there isn't enough interaction from the instructors. Too much room for lack of communication about assignment expectations sometimes.

Career Services: The job prospects are good even without the help of the school's career center.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: Class sizes are great. Some classes are better than others, depends on the instructor. Lecture and open discussion seem to be the most helpful for learning, but some instructors try to get creative and it often doesn't work with the technical information we are trying to learn.

Overall Experience: I think the school does a good job with networking if the student seeks those services.
