Students at Ramapo have few complaints about the lack of safety around campus. Campus Security keeps a close watch over just about everything that goes on around campus, from the partying to the parking. All of the areas on campus where it is necessary to travel are well-lit, with only the fringe areas and shortcuts existing for the brave. One area in particular, the trail between the College Park Apartments and Bischoff and Mackin Halls, can be intimidating, as the path leads directly down into the woods; however, this path is more deceiving than dangerous. Campus police regularly send out e-mails to the student body warning of any dangers, such as bears being spotted nearby or of fire alarms being activated.

In fact, many students have complaints about Campus Security being suffocating, and indeed they are quite quick to deal out fines and punishment, regardless of the severity of the offense. Much of security’s duty seems to be patrolling for non-stickered cars and ticketing them. Over the course of a week, a car without a proper parking sticker could be ticketed three times, despite the parking fee having been paid. Security also tends to loiter around parties, no matter how well behaved students may actually be.
