Administration: The administration sets rules that are too strict on most occasions. The parking rules are out of control and I feel like as a commuter who attends the school, I am treated as an outsider when visiting at late hours as if I am not part of the student body. I feel commuters should be allowed in the campus buildings and not have an issue getting in.

Administration: I have never had any issues with the rules at Ramapo but they have gotten pretty strict over the last year. They were pretty strict at the beginning of the semester but by the end of the semester, they got pretty lenient. I feel safe on campus though, and that's more of what I am concerned about. Professors each have their own attendance policy, but most of them only allow two excused absences but some professors don't even take attendance.

Administration: Public Safety is definitely a big help on campus - they'll step in if you lose your stuff, there's a threat of rape (I'm not kidding, a young lady did unfortunately get raped by two men on campus), or if a bear wanders around the student center.

3 College Freshman

Administration: They make decisions that are best for the whole community, some might not like them and some might, but I respect them because they do the greater good for the greater number.

3 College Freshman

Administration: The college isn't too strict about drinking or drug use but if you get caught you will get punished. Public Safety think they are real cops and are very rude to their students. I've had terrible encounters with them and each time they have been very inconsiderate and rude. I attended the school at the same time a rape happened on campus and after that the college was very strict with alcohol. Eventually they loosened up a bit. If you get caught doing something that breaks the code you will get in trouble and you will have to go to special classes and get a fine. They stick to their word with that.

Campus Security has been a major sticking point for many of the residents of Ramapo College, particularly for those students old enough to drink legally in the alcohol-allowed housing. There are only two areas on campus where alcohol is allowed in the living areas: The Village, provided each resident is of legal drinking age, and Laurel Hall, on the top two floors. Everywhere else on campus, alcohol is prohibited, which leads to problems with students enjoying time outside of their apartments with alcohol, particularly in the communal quads outside The Village. Campus Security also strictly enforces the parking policy, where one must have a sticker on display at all times in the window of the vehicle registered to the student. If not, the vehicle will be ticketed, and repeat offenders will find their car booted.

An area of annoyance for some students is the gate at the entrance of the College. If students are living in Bischoff, Mackin, the Overlook, or the CPAs, they will be required to go through a security booth. If a student does not have an ID to swipe or if somebody in front of the line does not have an ID, he or she has to fill out a form for the security officer in the booth. This takes time and can result in long lines. Public Safety officers are available 24 hours, 7 days a week, and will generally respond to any complaint or concern in a reasonable amount of time.
