Every Radford student is highly encouraged to purchase a personal computer. It is useful for taking notes, completing online assignments, and maintaining communication with professors. Many students at Radford do own a personal computer, but for those who do not, the school has many options available. The labs in McConnell Library are often crowded, especially toward the end of the semester when many final projects and papers are due. However, the Walker Technology Center and the Bonnie are less crowded on a daily basis. Classes are allowed to rent out the computer labs, so it is important to be aware of the posted schedule of availability.

The IT department is in the Walker Technology Center and is often incredibly helpful in diagnosing any computer problems. The staff is competent, knowledgeable, and well versed in both PC and Apple computers. Campus requires students to download anti-virus software and the Clean Access Agent before being allowed access to the RU wireless network. Monthly maintenance is done on the network in order to upgrade the wireless system and to maintain network security.
