3 College Sophomore

Parking: The parking is okay, it could be a lot better.

4 College Junior

Campus Quality: The campus is beautiful. There are many places for students to go study and hangout.

4 College Junior

Campus Quality: Because our school is so small you know a lot of people and you always see someone you know. It's a great feeling.

2 College Junior

Drug Safety: It is very easy to get ahold of drugs and alcohol. But You don't hear too many things about heroine and cocaine and painkillers

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: The health center is always willing to assist you with what you need, but if you don't make an appointment it is a possibility that they may not be able to fit you in that day.

3 College Junior

Diversity: As far as ethnicity goes, the campus is becoming more diverse however it is still predominately Caucasian.

2 College Junior

Weather: Radford weather is terrible. It is unpredictable, and most of the time you weather app is wrong. It can be hot and sunny one day the rain the next. It will even have a day where it snows in May.

4 College Junior

Transportation: We have several school transits. It is free if you are a student with your student i.d. They take you around camps, around town, to the mall (20 minutes away), and to Blacksburg (where Virginia Tech, the nearest school is located).

2 College Junior

Local Area: There's not much at all to do unless you're an outdoors person (you still have to travel at least 30 minutes). But other than that, many people travel a 30 minutes to the nearest school.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: It's not the best, but it's definitely not the worst.

3 College Junior

Technology: There are some buildings that have new and updated computers but there are still a few building that have older computers or they don't have updated programs like for adobe software.

4 College Junior

Administration: The police are pretty strict when it comes to breaking rules and laws. They can also be very helpful when asking them questions

3 College Junior

Party Scene: At one point (freshman year) it was pretty great. Now there are very few parties throughout the semester

3 College Junior

Scholarships: Our taxes are taking a long time to complete due to uncontrollable circumstances because of the military, so I am not getting much financial aid at the moment

2 College Junior

Parking: There are not enough spots on campus for students or teachers.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Radford was a great choice! It is not a huge campus where it takes 20 minutes to get from one end of campus to the other. It is one of those campuses where you see different people everyday, but see a friend or two on your way to class.

4 College Sophomore

Party Scene: If you ask anybody at Radford or knows of Radford they will tell you that it is a huge 'party school'. It is not, sure there are parties every weekend just like every other college. It's usually go to a friends apartment and drink with your friends or go out to the bars, it has really died down.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: Radford is a great diverse campus, I see all kinds of ethnicity's with other ethnicity's and it is great having that experience.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I'm not sure about scholarships, I did not apply to many.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: The security is pretty great, most of the things that happen (e.g robbery, car break-ins) off campus. Being on campus is very safe and the police are constantly circling the neighborhoods making sure there is no trouble.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: The professors are extremely helpful, if you have any questions they are always there to help you or explain anything that you do not understand. The workload is not that bad compared to a nursing or biology major.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: The fact that you can have a one-on-one connection with your professor. There are not 1,000 students in a typical lecture, there are at most 100 because they are general classes. There are plenty of places on campus to go and study, the library has a floor that is silent where you can go and you will be kicked out if you are too loud. The game room is great after hours of studying as well.

3 College Junior

Campus Quality: We have many activities always going on from, bowling, movie nights, game nights, etc. There is always something going on to keep students entertained.

3 College Junior

Campus Food: On campus we don't have many food options and the food choices that we do have all serve the same things.

3 College Junior

Parking: The cost of a permit is fairly cheap compared to other schools who reach the hundreds per semester. The police are very strict about parking and will easily fine you. There is a need for a car on campus, especially if you live far away from your hometown, and it makes trips to the store easier.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

Radford University offers an incredibly unique experience in a small-town environment. The small size of the University allows for a much more personal connection with the faculty and other students. Professors make it their mission to create an engaging learning environment, going above and beyond when a student makes the effort to ask for help. Professors are more than willing to write recommendations, assist in classroom issues, and be fantastic sounding boards for academic advancement. The goal of Radford academia is to better the students at all costs. The social life is also a bonus of attending such a small school. With a small population, the majority of students knows one another fairly well. They party together, go to classes together, and spend quality time together during campus activities. The nightlife is a legend among the colleges of Virginia, and the parties are incredible. But, even if you don't like to drink until you can't stand up, there are plenty of things to do like bowling, playing pool or pingpong, or checking out a movie.

The town of Radford is small, but within miles of several hot spots for action. Virginia Tech is 15 minutes away, Roanoke is less than an hour, and there are several mountainous hiking trails and camping areas nearby. What it boils down to is that Radford University is a "what you make of it" experience. If students put in the effort to go to class and engage in out-of-class activities, their time at Radford will be incredible. The friends you make will be lasting connections that continue long after graduation. At the start of college, every student is handed the opportunity to make something great out of their experience, and Radford provides many tools along the way to help students ensure it is worthwhile.
