Campus Food: Its not the best but its also not the worst. Gets old fast though

3 College Senior

Campus Quality: People are friendly, class sizes are a plus, easy to find your way around

Local Area: You definitely have to like being in a small town or at least not mind it for a few years

Diversity: Its a small school in south-west VA so theres not much diversity

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: Cheaper than living in the dorms and really close to class

3 College Senior

Party Scene: Lots of frats but only a couple bars to choose from

3 College Senior

Health & Safety: Instead of improving security for crime the cops are getting worse with drinking charges

3 College Senior

Transportation: The transit system is improving but it is new so it takes forever to get somewhere

3 College Senior

Overall Experience: It was a great experience. The people are welcoming and friendly

Off-Campus Dining: It's better than eating on campus for sure. You usually have to drive a while to get anywhere.

3 College Senior

Campus Housing: Its better if you are able to get a newly renovated dorm but that usually does not happen as a freshman

3 College Sophomore

Technology: The wifi sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.

5 College Sophomore

Transportation: The transportation is amazing there are many locations that they can drop off and pick up students and if you have your student ID then it is free. The pick up times average from 15 to 20 minutes for most places and it is an enjoyable ride.

4 College Sophomore

Greek Life: I am apart of Greek life here and I love it so much. It is different when you are actually apart of the organization. I enjoy every second of it with my sisters. Greek life tries to help out the community as much as possible because they want to make a difference and not seem like all they do is party.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: It really has been an okay experience. I love the professors that I have had so far because here they want you to succeed and they are here to help. I just don't know if I would choose Radford again if I had the chance.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: I love the program that I am in. The history professor are very helpful and want you to succeed! I would do it again if I had to and my goal is to become a history teaching. I am more concerned with finding a job in Virginia so I may end up moving states to find one.

3 College Sophomore

Administration: The polices that involve school academics are very strict you are suppose to follow the honor code and if you violate that then you will be punished. The social part of it for the most part are lenient because it can get very noisy and if a student is caught with something for the most part they can get off with just a warning.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: It rains a lot and can be quite windy at times.

4 College Sophomore

Local Area: I love the local city and how friendly they are. It has the small town feel that everyone loves and the campus and surrounding area are beautiful. I would live here if the college wasn't so close.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: In recent months the crime rate has went up a lot. The police are rarely ever seen on campus unless it is a drug bust or something of that nature. A lot of assaults have happened to women which makes me uncomfortable to walk alone at night for the most part.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Food: The availability of food just varies on the day of the week and most of the time you cannot get food past 8pm which is hard for people that enjoy late night meals. There is not much of options for what you want to eat or even things that would help people who have to eat specific items.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: Everyone is very open to each other, but there is a lot of certain groups of people that hang out with one another.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: It was more of a hassle to wait for a student loan than for finical aid to get packages together. For the most part they work well with students that are in need of money.

Radford University offers an incredibly unique experience in a small-town environment. The small size of the University allows for a much more personal connection with the faculty and other students. Professors make it their mission to create an engaging learning environment, going above and beyond when a student makes the effort to ask for help. Professors are more than willing to write recommendations, assist in classroom issues, and be fantastic sounding boards for academic advancement. The goal of Radford academia is to better the students at all costs. The social life is also a bonus of attending such a small school. With a small population, the majority of students knows one another fairly well. They party together, go to classes together, and spend quality time together during campus activities. The nightlife is a legend among the colleges of Virginia, and the parties are incredible. But, even if you don't like to drink until you can't stand up, there are plenty of things to do like bowling, playing pool or pingpong, or checking out a movie.

The town of Radford is small, but within miles of several hot spots for action. Virginia Tech is 15 minutes away, Roanoke is less than an hour, and there are several mountainous hiking trails and camping areas nearby. What it boils down to is that Radford University is a "what you make of it" experience. If students put in the effort to go to class and engage in out-of-class activities, their time at Radford will be incredible. The friends you make will be lasting connections that continue long after graduation. At the start of college, every student is handed the opportunity to make something great out of their experience, and Radford provides many tools along the way to help students ensure it is worthwhile.
