Transportation: There are shuttles that can take you pretty far for free and they run every 15 minutes.

Party Scene: For people over 21 there are a couple of bars but for the others, house parties are the way to go and there is usually always a house partying any night of the week and they are relatively close to campus so you can walk.

Campus Quality: Radfords campus life had me in awe when i saw how beautiful it actually is in person, its one thing in pictures but a totally different aspect when you actually see it in person. The athletic centers are very neat and an amazing place to work out. There are many of clubs and activities you could join to keep yourself busy.

Academics: When i first stepped in class rooms i noticed how well teachers taught students. Its very hard to see teachers actually put effort into teaching students, but at Radford i actually saw them go out of their way to teach. they also have grerat programs for students that are struggling in classes which i think is great.

Athletics: It is a divison one college with beautiful fields.

Off-Campus Dining: The dining options are very convient for students.

Health & Safety: I think that the campus is really safe. The Health Center is great too... and everyone is extra nice, but it's almost impossible to get an appointment to see someone. I think that's because they are so busy.

4 College Student

Party Scene: You can ALWAYS find something to do... and if you are bored, it's because you are boring. I give it an A- only because if you have too much fun, you're likely to flunk your exam.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I have never felt unsafe on campus. I personally don't like walking around at night by myself, but I don't see Radford as an unsafe place.

3 College Freshman

Local Area: There isn;t too much to do in the tow of Radford. There's a farmers market in the Spring/Fall, and some shops (mostly places to eat) on main street. If you are looking for shopping and more stuff to do, the place to go would be Christiansburg, and Radford's transit system has a bus that nakes students there.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: The campus offers a wide variety of foods for picky eaters.

4 College Freshman

Campus Quality: Radford student life is awesome. Many types of food and activities to do. Plus the surrounding area has many activities (canoeing, etc.)

5 College Freshman

Campus Quality: You have an excellent balance regarding having the opportunity to pursue academic excellence and experiencing the social aspects of college (meeting and getting along with a diverse population of people). Also, it helps you to be responsible.

3 College Freshman

Majors: Radford has a really good Business major program and it's not difficult at all to get into. Unlike the nursing program, you don't need to maintain some high GPA just to stay in. As long as you take the classes you need for the degree and maintain a decent GPA throughout it, you're good.

Greek Life: Greek life isn't a really big deal at Radford. Poeple don't look up to you, or look down on you because of it. If you're in it, you're in it. It's nice for parties and stuff but other than that, no one really cares.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Radford does't really have a big diversity of guys or girls. The most diverse people are usually the athletes. The people that get paid to come here. Other than that, it's not that diverse at all.

Scholarships: Financial aid is really hard to get. I received no financial help at all. When I talked to my advisor about it all she could really tell me was to apply for scholarships, which I never ended up getting even when I did apply.

Campus Quality: The gym is my favorite place to go to relieve stress, but the gyms at Radford are always crowded and seem unclean. It is very hot and humid in them too since air condition is not provided in those areas.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I love where I live at on campus. My dorm room has a decent amount of space, with our own bathroom, and heating and air conditioning. All the beds and dressers look brand new. The janitor is always cleaning to make the halls look nice. The RA's are fantastic! While living on campus it takes a lot less time to walk to class. It is about the same price as living off campus.

Local Area: Radford University is located in a small town, but within walking distance from the school there is a strip of restaurants and little shops that are fun to go to on a pretty day. Radford provides a transportation system to Virginia Tech where alot of students go to watch football games and hangout with other friends. Christiansburg is right by Tech and has shopping and food.

5 College Freshman

Campus Quality: The nursing program here is outstanding. It is one of the top three in the state. The majority of the teachers here have their PHD and are more than willing to help students in any way that they can.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: The drug scene at Radford University depends on who your friends are. You see more alcohol than drugs. But there isn't really much pressure and the people drinking are usually of age.

2 College Junior

Scholarships: Even though I am giving my personal experience with financial aid a C- does not mean it is that way for everyone, I have quite a few friends that financial aid paid for everything. For me, they said my parents earned too much and that they could only give me 7500 for the whole year so I, by myself, had to pay almost 3 grand each semester. The FAFSA goes off your parents finances from last year not from the now, even though my parents are having some major financial struggles now, last year they weren't and that is all FAFSA sees. So if FAFSA can't give you the money you need, try other routes like student or parent plus loans.

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Even though Radford has people coming to it from all sorts of different places, the type of girl and guy you will see the most here is the good old southerner. There are some guys/girls that will dress like the country but for the most part they dress just like anybody else, and you can't usually tell until they talk and their accent comes out. The guys are pretty cute and the girls are too, and the ratio at Radford is there are more girls to guys. So if your a girl it sucks trying to find someone...if your a guy it's the opposite.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

Radford University offers an incredibly unique experience in a small-town environment. The small size of the University allows for a much more personal connection with the faculty and other students. Professors make it their mission to create an engaging learning environment, going above and beyond when a student makes the effort to ask for help. Professors are more than willing to write recommendations, assist in classroom issues, and be fantastic sounding boards for academic advancement. The goal of Radford academia is to better the students at all costs. The social life is also a bonus of attending such a small school. With a small population, the majority of students knows one another fairly well. They party together, go to classes together, and spend quality time together during campus activities. The nightlife is a legend among the colleges of Virginia, and the parties are incredible. But, even if you don't like to drink until you can't stand up, there are plenty of things to do like bowling, playing pool or pingpong, or checking out a movie.

The town of Radford is small, but within miles of several hot spots for action. Virginia Tech is 15 minutes away, Roanoke is less than an hour, and there are several mountainous hiking trails and camping areas nearby. What it boils down to is that Radford University is a "what you make of it" experience. If students put in the effort to go to class and engage in out-of-class activities, their time at Radford will be incredible. The friends you make will be lasting connections that continue long after graduation. At the start of college, every student is handed the opportunity to make something great out of their experience, and Radford provides many tools along the way to help students ensure it is worthwhile.
