1 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: I do not live off campus, and do not look for apartments.

1 College Freshman

Party Scene: There is not a lot do do, unless you go to Blacksburg. The town is so tiny.

5 College Freshman

Party Scene: There are definitely a lot of options, but I just choose not to participate.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: People don't rally around our sports much because we don't have a football team.

4 College Freshman

Administration: I agree with all of Radford's rules and regulations.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: Although there are two main ethnic backgrounds at my school, but I have more diversity within my friend group.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: Other than many of the food places closing on Saturday's and Sunday's, I really enjoy the food places! Wish it were healthier though! One of our dining halls is very good but the other is awful unless it is a special occasion.

3 College Freshman

Weather: The local weather is kind of bipolar, but that's Virginia for you.

4 College Freshman

Parking: My car is a bit far away, but it's okay because I don't need it on campus to get to my classes.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: I don't have much experience with using the bus since I have my car, but it's nice that I can walk many places!

5 College Freshman

Majors: They have a great number of majors available and I also like the fact that they accommodate people wanting to double major or have a minor, such as myself.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I have really enjoyed Radford as a university and as a place to live. It has a wonderful atmosphere.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There's a great variety of places whether you are looking for fine dining or going out with friends late at night.

5 College Freshman

Local Area: I love the small town atmosphere and general homey feel of the entire place.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: It's really cool how guys and girls can hang out and talk to each other without it being a big deal. There's a lot of different types of people that come together and become friends despite the differences.

5 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I really enjoy living in a dorm with a roommate and two suitemates. Most dorm halls are really close and sociable but my hall is one of the few exceptions, unfortunately, but I attribute this to the fact that it is an Honors dorm.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: The diversity is alright. The college usually has all instate students but from the state of Va students come from all over. A lot of the students are from northern va which I would say has a lot of different cultures and backgrounds in itself. Everyone is accepting, radford is a very laid back type of atmosphere.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: A lot of students at radford do drink on the weekends. There is no peer pressure to do so though, only if you want to. The access to buy alcohol underage is limited but if you know people than it may be easier to get it.

4 College Sophomore

Local Area: Radford is in a small town but it's still nice. A lot of places are under construction and in less than a year they've opened two restaurants off campus. The locals are actually very nice and aware that it is a college town and go out of their way to make sure you're okay. The shopping mall close by isn't that great but it has all the necessities and there's one that's better in Roanoke about 30 minutes away that is much better. Radford is a safe town as well since I've been here I haven't heard of anything bad that's happened. Our sports are D1 but it's not a sports school. The basketball team is awesome and so is soccer and volleyball but we don't have an actual football team, just club football. Over all the school, has a good atmosphere.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I love Radford University! It's an awesome on campus experience. The nightlife is exciting. The classes are great sizes for individual attention and the teachers and staff are very understandable and friendly. I love this school, I can't imagine going or being anywhere else.

3 College Student

Diversity: Uhm do not really know what to say..

3 College Student

Off-Campus Dining: I like the delivery options of a few, the rest you have to drive to get too.

2 College Student

Weather: It is so cold at Radford. Just stay warm and bundle up.

3 College Student

Scholarships: I am going to be in a ridiculous amount of debt out after school. It is very sad.

4 College Student

Campus Food: There are many different options, but like any school eating the same thing for 9 months straight can become very tiresome.

Radford University offers an incredibly unique experience in a small-town environment. The small size of the University allows for a much more personal connection with the faculty and other students. Professors make it their mission to create an engaging learning environment, going above and beyond when a student makes the effort to ask for help. Professors are more than willing to write recommendations, assist in classroom issues, and be fantastic sounding boards for academic advancement. The goal of Radford academia is to better the students at all costs. The social life is also a bonus of attending such a small school. With a small population, the majority of students knows one another fairly well. They party together, go to classes together, and spend quality time together during campus activities. The nightlife is a legend among the colleges of Virginia, and the parties are incredible. But, even if you don't like to drink until you can't stand up, there are plenty of things to do like bowling, playing pool or pingpong, or checking out a movie.

The town of Radford is small, but within miles of several hot spots for action. Virginia Tech is 15 minutes away, Roanoke is less than an hour, and there are several mountainous hiking trails and camping areas nearby. What it boils down to is that Radford University is a "what you make of it" experience. If students put in the effort to go to class and engage in out-of-class activities, their time at Radford will be incredible. The friends you make will be lasting connections that continue long after graduation. At the start of college, every student is handed the opportunity to make something great out of their experience, and Radford provides many tools along the way to help students ensure it is worthwhile.
