4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Most of my courses had very good professors. 1 professors wasn't very engaging, but competent. However 2 of my 3 science instructors were very poor.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Crime is rare and usually happens off-campus.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Purdue Calumet is close to home and is accessible to me. However, as a commuter school cliques don't tend to grow very large, this makes having a close knit group of friends possible.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: It's very easy to get hired on campus and the minimum pay is usually higher than minimum wage.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: For what I'm paying, it's pretty good. I wish there was more school spirit.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: It's easy to report an issue that you have. People care about your safety.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Everything's new, but it's a commuter school so most people don't live on campus.

2 College Freshman

Greek Life: There's about 2 fraternities that I know about. Not many people want to join because it is a commuter school.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: We don't have a football team. Not many people attend sporting events because we are a small school but many of the students that are there play on a team.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: My first year at Purdue University Calumet was better than expected. Going to a university close to home is ideal for the first year but there are more opportunities at a bigger university that is why I plan on transferring to the main campus.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Campus police are always available and there are emergency phones scattered throughout campus. There are also tons of security cameras inside the buildings.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: There are career fairs that happen on campus every semester that let students gain opportunities to meet with future employers and build connections with them.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Depending on the difficulty of the course, most professors do well in teaching. There area few who come unprepared for class and others who tend to rush in the teaching.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The rooms in the dorms are way better than traditional dorms. Each room has either 2 or 4 bedrooms with 1 or 2 bathrooms depending on the number of people living there. The living area is quite spacious and is the usual hang out spot for me and my friends. The dorms played a major part in choosing this campus. The only problems I found were the wifi, which was very inconsistent, and the noise level of some of the other floors. The staff needs to do a better job enforcing quiet hours.

Athletics: Our athletics program is average. Since we are unifying with the North Central campus to become Purdue Northwest, we should be getting better players. I am hoping this is an opportunity to also expand our athletics program. I will say that the fan support for the athletics is usually subpar.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: The whole college is somewhat small but the small teacher to student ratio can be seen as a good thing. I actually prefer the generally smaller classes, as I am more comfortable to ask questions from the professor instead of fighting for his or her attention with other students. I also like the availability of teaching assistants even though I get most of my studying help from my friends. Outside of classes, the campus does not really offer too much in terms of activities. While the occasional one is advertised, none have really peaked my interest. Unless there is free food involved of course. I do most of my relaxing hanging out with friends, which is the only reason I enjoyed my first year at college.

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: Although there have been numerous crimes reported, it's great that the school police notify us right away via email ans the school newspaper for warnings and dangers.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: I like how each person has their own room and space and share the other aspects like the kitchen and bathroom. Wish the rent was a bit cheaper since some of us are starting out.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: Most of the professors here are wonderful. They really know how to teach.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: Some professors care others don't. Classrooms are older but class size is average.
