Academic Flexibility: I was not frustrated with the my experience in transferring my classes. I was happy that my electives were transferred over. It was easy and the number they transferred did transfer. Except Chemistry which was over 7 years and I am majoring in Nursing. That was okay, because I did not need it for the program. It was easy to transfer. It didn't take long and I think they may have found more that did in fact transfer. Also they were flexible in that some credits transferred in place of something else. It was a great process for me.

Overall Experience: My experience overall with my school was great. I like the small class sizes and the interaction with the professors. I like the tuition rates and the scholarship programs that can help me pay for them. I like the diversity and meeting new people all in the area where students gather until class. I like the programs that are offered to help me to graduate on time. I also like the fact that as a mom I can talk to professors that understand my situation of having a family and going to school at the same time. If I could do it over, yes I would choose Prairie State College.

Overall Experience: The professors as I have mention are great. They want to see students excel. Thus the quality of the courses are great because they want the students to know the work. I have had professors to tell the class of their life experience in the field and what they should know and how long to study. They tell what to do and what not to do depending on where one is working. So I love that interaction with the professors. The class sizes are small so that each student can receive that interaction from the professor. The class style is set up so that everyone is facing the board and there are about 20 students in a class maybe more or less. Depending on the class, there are many offers with maybe 3 sections of different times to choose from. Late classes were the best for me because I have a family.

Overall Experience: The quality of having a degree from Prairie State College vs Chamberling nursing school is looked at differently. However, every Nurse must take the Nursing exam to be registered. Therefore this is where the quality of the alumni network helps and the quality of the career center/services on the campus. The program from employers recruiting on campus is okay. They help to find jobs. I have heard many nurses getting jobs because they are in demand.

Online Courses: I thought my online courses was great! I have taken online courses before and so I know how it works. The online features was okay but the workload was great. Great because having the course online means I can do them when I was able. The registration process was okay for online, I just had to register in some cases early.

I thought the professor/student relationship was great because I did have interaction with my professor. They would comment on my work and post. The peer-to-peer interaction was also great. I can tell that when each of my peers would be interested in my post by the comments they have made. I thought it was easy for me to navigate to where I needed to go and even how to take my test with no problems.

Student Body: The student body is diverse. The average students need some assistance with the tuition, have some political views, and maybe religious. These students are young adults and when it comes to finding study groups there is acceptance because everyone wants that extra brain. Not for those who want to just get answers to get that A, but the groups are looking for those who have studied and put some time in and have something to offer the group. I have worked with many groups and we wanted everyone that studied the material. If someone came that didn't understand, then yes they were helped.

Tuition & Financial Aid: The tuition is great for the education I am receiving. This is the lowest tuition I have found for Nursing! The outcome will be much more. The financial aid office is very small so there are long waits that lead out into the hall. My suggestion is to have everything you need in hand and all questions written out so you will not forget anything. You do not want to have to get back in line. It is best not to call, but go in person. The tuition is great, not the financial aid experience. That was just okay for me.

Career Services: I look forward to a great career in Nursing because this field is open. I have not yet worked with the alumni network, but with just networking and talking to my CNA professor I know she will write me a recommendation. I have not yet looked into the career center, but from word of mouth many have found jobs and are now working. I would think that putting forth a lot of effort and working with the career center will help me find a job after graduating.

Academic Experience: I have to rank it on the okay closer to the great side. I have finished all my prerequisite for the Nursing program. I thought the prerequisites were challenging enough because I have had professors that wanted the students to leave knowing the work load given. I like that, though tough. The facilities for the CNA program was okay because it did provide me with the tools I needed to work in a real nursing home. The clinical experience was a good one. I have learned so much with the real life experience in how to even approach the residents and apply the skills I have learned from the class room. I have had a great professor. She was a RN and shared many life experience to help us. I have had okay and great experience with all the program, workload, curriculum, facilities and clinical.

Academic Experience: The Academics was great because I did have professors that cared and when I put forth more effort they did also. I thought registration was great because the professors that everyone claimed to be hard or difficult were the classes that were left open. I took them! So I have had a challenging work load. I have had to be sure I studied hard and smart for the quizzes and the tests. I could not just read the material but go on the internet and study groups to learn the material. I looked for other other diagrams and ways on how to retain the material. The academics department have student tutors that can help for those who are in need of them. The STEM program also have ways to help those to study in their fields. Thus the academics are great, when those who need them put them to use. The curriculum is also great when the students really study, use all resources available and not just to pass a test. I have been help in these ways.

Campus Resources: I think the campus resources are great. They offer a verity of resources to help students get the grades, finances and other resources needed. I especially enjoy the STEM program because I have unlimited resources. If I need a lap top, books or anything it is available to me. I do have to act quick, but I can get it. This program has helped me a lot and with my counselor who helps keep me on track. I have also been given opportunities for different scholarships which I have applied for and feel positive about. Yes, the resources are great.

Online Courses: I love having online classes. The instructors are very helpful. I also enjoy having the time to communicate with classmates and talk about the course.

Tuition & Financial Aid: The tuition is reasonable for a community college. The Finacial Aid prossess however is OUTRAGEOUS! I went in once a week for the last 6 weeks of spring semester asking when the fall financial aid information would be in and every week the answer was "we should have it sometime next week" It took 2 monthes and then I didn't recieve the document with the ammount i would recieve until 2 days before the payment/payment plan was due!! Not happy with that proccess AT ALL.

Campus Resources: For a community college I feel PSC has great resourses. There is always an activity going on. Tons of active clubs that are easy to get involved with as long as you have the time. The writting center is an incredibley helpful resourse. The ability to get the feedback from proffessors on essays and writting assignments has helped me not only to improve my personal writting ability the feedback gives me confidence that I can achieve the grades I need.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: It's pretty much a bigger highschool with more rigorous courses

Student Body: people get along pretty well

Campus Resources: The campus has a pretty fair amount of resources that can be used if you look for them academic wise as the library and student success center have a lot of information available. The athletic centers are lacking though as the gym is small. there is occasionally events going on at the school though maybe once a week but it's usually small things.

3 College Freshman

Campus Resources: For the most part Prairie State's computer network is really good and you can easily print in the library for a small fee. On the other hand the wireless internet is there, but it is fairly horrible as it constantly logs the user out so much so that you'd be better off using your own personal wireless network.

3 College Freshman

Online Courses: I haven't taken any of the online courses at Prairie State.

3 College Freshman

Academic Experience: It is pretty good to have a psychology major at Prairie State College especially because most of the people that teach it have actually worked in the field and have stories to share about almost every topic. The work load is pretty easy most of the time but sometimes everything can pile up at once. their also isn't that many job opportunities given here.

4 College Freshman

Academic Experience: In the courses I admit that I have learned a considerable amount from psychology, sociology, philosophy and the English courses but the math department seemed to lack a little and seem too simple.

2 College Freshman

Campus Quality: There isn't much to set Prairie State College apart from other colleges it has a pretty basic facility with no housing and not much outside space.

2 College Freshman

Academic Flexibility: their are some classes that are only available at certain times of the day especially if you have late start classes.

3 College Freshman

Career Services: I don't know all that much about the career services myself but i know that they are available to the students.
