4 College Freshman

Administration: The campus strictness is pretty average on campus. The administration does a good job of making me feel safe, but at the same time they allow for a lot of fun on campus without letting it get out of hand.

Majors: The professors that teach for the major I am earning are extremely knowledgable and their lectures are very informative. They have continually held my interest in the subject. There are a variety of classes to enjoy and learn from that also count towards my degree that are offered here.

3 College Freshman

Majors: I have not held an internship, but I plan on doing one in order to enrich my educational experience and to prepare for the workforce that I hope to be a part of. On the other hand, the university does not have a fast, available access to ways to find out about scholarships.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: The school has some options that offer a pretty good amount of scholarships, but the process can be long. The school is also part of the Western Undergraduate Exchange program, which is really good for students in the west coast.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are a lot of places you can go to and there is an unlimited amount of options- there are both cheap and expensive restaurants, and there is a particularly large amount of vegan/vegetarian and organic places to choose from. There are a lot of places that offer student discounts as well.

2 College Freshman

Party Scene: You have to be 21 to be involved in most of the nightlife here because the on-campus college bars are the most lively places during the weekend. There are some get togethers you can find if you're not 21, but it is difficult and they are not very big.

Local Area: Downtown Portland is a very vibrate, fun and diverse place to live in. There are a lot of job opportunities. There is also a great night life for all ages, as well as a lot of deferent restaurants and coffee shops to go to.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: The girls and guys are generally "hipster"- their style includes, causal clothes that often verge on "hippie" style. The students are, for the most part, pretty liberal. There is also a wide variety of ages. There are your typical college age students, as well as older adults returning to school. However, the predominant race is white on campus and it is pretty rare to see somebody who is of another race.

5 College Freshman

Academics: The amount of classes offered are overwhelming and the professors are amazing.

Academics: I am currently, working on my Nursing prerequisites. The workload I get is overwhelming, i barely started the semester and I'm already drowning.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: I always get invited to parties, but sadly I cant attend.

5 College Freshman

Local Area: I love it!!! everything I like and want is in Portland.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: I love the off-campus restaurants, there is so many options. Sometimes I cant decide where to eat.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: I dont really hear about the Greek life. The only time I hear about them is when they are recruiting or tabling.

Health & Safety: I have never heard negative opinions about Portland State Health and Safety.

5 College Freshman

Administration: The school is really organized, even though there are over 30,000 students on campus. The administration can still keep up.

Campus Housing: The Portland State housing is amazing, you get the best views from your dorm. From my room I can see the river and all of downtown since Im in the tenth floor.

5 College Freshman

Scholarships: My financial aid and scholarships helped me pay all my tuition and books. I even had money leftover for next year.

Off-Campus Housing: I love the beautiful buildings in campus and outside campus. The only negative thing is that rent is expensive since campus is in the middle of downtown.

3 College Senior

Health & Safety: There have been a few attacks, but mostly they are due to the transients in the area. If Portland would do something to alleviate the homeless situation, I doubt there would be any safety issues at Portland State.

Scholarships: It is okay as long as you don't have any unique problems, like running out of grants and loans before you get your degree. And now with the new payment plan required for those with a balance due by the end of the first week of classes, it is a bear. It's supposed to be a help, but there are too many bumps for it not to be a headache.

Local Area: There is just way too much stuff to list in this small space. There are tons of attractions, shops, restaurants, parks, museums, etc all within a short distance of each other. Then the coast is an hour away, and Mt. Hood is an hour away. Its just the best logistically located city in this part of the country.

Greek Life: There isn't any special attention shown to the Greek Life. They occasionally do something to garnish attention with the general population, but otherwise those involved keep to themselves.

Off-Campus Housing: School shouldnt be your home and hospital and life, it should be school.
