Overall Experience: Portland State University is very welcoming and embracing. Not only is it a diverse campus, but student-held diversity celebrations and events are always occurring. The campus goes above and beyond in their humanitarian efforts by constantly promoting volunteer opportunities, keeping a food donation and used clothing on-campus department open, and giving away free produce on the second Monday of every month.

Athletics: University sports are highly regarded and garner much student spirit. Recreational sports through the school gym and outdoor trips through the outdoor program are also very popular.

Health & Safety: I feel safe on campus. The only time where that might not be true is late at night, since where I live is right in downtown, but I think that can apply to any school in a busy city like Portland. However there are many places to go to for support and prevention that are very easily accessible. I especially feel safe in my dorm building because you need an I.D. to enter the building and to also access the elevator to the residential floors.

Overall Experience: I enjoyed attending classes this past term. The professors I had were extremely nice and approachable, they were always open to help me figure something out if I needed it. The courses themselves were very informational and I never felt that they were ever a waste of time. I also always attended classes. When registering, there is a wide variety of classes to choose from, which was comforting.

Overall Experience: There are many resources to visit on campus for what possible careers to pursue after receiving a degree from PSU. There is also an Alumni center, easily acceptable right in the middle of the campus, on the park blocks. For my own experience, the athletic advisers send out our resumes to connections they have in fields we may be interested in, to help us after graduating.

Campus Housing: I love the housing I live in. I live in the Broadway dorms and everything is pretty much new. Compared to other dorms I've seen, it's amazing. I share a room with one other person, whom I am very comfortable with. The floor isn't made of carpet, we have a little kitchenette and our own bathroom. It's also a building with about 10 floors, so I think the social aspect of living in the community is really nice. The building is also very secure, needing an I.D. to get in, and then also to go up to residential floors through the elevator.

Athletics: Being on the varsity women's soccer team, I admit I'm a little biased about my opinions concerning the athletics. I thoroughly enjoy being part of the team, it truly is a great experience. As far as fan support goes, there's usually very little but I think this due to the fact that our athletic facility is 20 minutes away from campus. However even sports like volleyball do not receive that much support either. Our school does have an incredibly nice recreational center however, where I enjoy working out.

Overall Experience: I love the area Portland State University is in. Being in downtown Portland means being in the city where there are plenty of places to go and plenty of things to do. The easily accessible public transit is also extremely convenient. The school in itself is a place I enjoy learning and growing. It is progressive and environmentally friendly and I really appreciate the cultural diversity among the school. I feel very comfortable living in Portland and attending school here.

Health & Safety: I believe it's about as good as they can make it. In other words bad people will find a way to do bad things and there is only so much that can be done to prevent it.

Greek Life: I don't know very much about thIs social scene. I've never been a part of it and am indifferent on the topic.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: They are the only one in my area with the program I want, I transferred over and they have been okay about excepting credits. Although I have had to fight for quite a few of them. I am looking forward to finishing my degree and I believe this will be a fine school to do it at. The staff has been friendly.

Athletics: The faculty, the athletes, and students all do a wonderful job in coming together to bring positivity and a feeling of a campus community!

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: Forward thinking, downtown Portland, ease of access and ability to move students forward

4 College Junior

Athletics: Athletics have been attended to through the great gym on campus and all students are welcomed and encouraged to use all the facilities available.

3 College Junior

Academics: My area of study is well represented.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: I feel safe on campus.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: I appreciate how environmentally friendly it is, but I wish there were more options for transfer students to meet and mingle.

3 College Junior

Athletics: There is a decent amount of student involvement, but I don't personally participate.

Overall Experience: Classes, subject matter, location of university.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Portland State University is a good school choice for me because it has diversity and a lot of opportunity for people. The people here are friendly and understand. Especially since coming in as a freshman and the transition is hard. Overall i like the school I am at.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: There are some really great professors here, and lots of options for majors and minors. Of course, the social scene isn't great since most people commute.

Overall Experience: I don't know that I would choose this school again mainly because they make you go through the University Studies program and it just adds on extra credits you could be using to take different classes that would help you complete your degree. Also, their staff doesn't seem very friendly and they don't reach out to help you, you have to do a lot of research to find who you actually have to talk to for your specific issue.

Overall Experience: This experience here has been great so far. There is lots of diversity and the class sizes are generally small enough to ensure peek learning capability.

Overall Experience: I was fond of Portland state's academic - most of the teachers were excellent, and it has a great array of resources for non-traditional students. However, the administration is overpaid and blatantly corrupt. They hand picked the current student body leadership and the previous year's (who lost the election yet were given the position), and the teachers have had to vote to strike repeatedly to get fair wages. They do not listen to the student body, and are railroading the arming of the campus police which has been opposed from the very beginning.

The administration also favors the business school almost exclusively, slashing research budgets and other departments, leaving buildings unfinished while giving themselves raises.

The dorms are a mix of nice buildings and dilapidated, but if there's a problem, you're on your own. Rules violations are common, and consistently disruptive neighbors will be allowed to ruin your ability to work and study.

The food on campus is now an Aramark monopoly.
