Drug Safety: I am dry and drug-free, and I didn't hang out with people who partied like this.

Drug Safety: Though the school isn't as relaxed about freshman consuming alcohol on South Campus, Pomona is overall pretty good about substances, especially alcohol. The college provides alcohol for some on campus events (don't worry it's not paid for using tuition) so that they make sure students are safe.

Drug Safety: The administration is very big on harm reduction. Making sure people are safe is by far the biggest priority. If you are under 21 drinking in a dorm before you go to the party will pretty much be the only way to drink. Drinking in dorms is easy and the RA's are not out to get you. As long as you are not being too loud and keep your door closed you will not get in trouble. If you are over 21 you can just get alcohol at the party. If you want to smoke weed you will find people to smoke with, if you don't won't really notice it. Other drugs are used by certain people, but unless you want to be apart of it you probably won't ever know of their use.

Drug Safety: Pomona is a very safe campus. With that being said, you will find some drug use. Being that it's California, the drug of choice is usually weed. I'm sure you can find some other stuff if you know the right people or look hard enough. Although you may see people smoking around campus it is against the school's rules and if you are caught you will be punished (especially if smoking inside a dorm). There isn't any peer pressure to do drugs or drink, but that also could just depend on your friend group. All of south campus (where freshmen live) is dry so getting caught with any hard alcohol (beer, wine, spirits) can get you fined) Overall, it's pretty chill.

Drug Safety: A different perspective: You can go the whole year without having ever touched any substances and still have a blast. I did. No one EVER pressured me to try something that I did not want to try.

The drug scene is a little exaggerated. It is definitely prevalent (especially in the form of alcohol), but it does not dominate. There is a significant portion of the student body that does not partake in any substances at all. Sub-free halls rarely break down in their promise to not have substances. So fear not if you're the type to not do drugs- you'll find a group of people who don't either.

Well, the fact is that just about any drug one desires is available on campus, but drugs are not a highly visible part of campus life. Tons of people drink, and many smoke pot, but there are also select pockets of the student body that use other drugs, as well. Ecstasy is big sometimes, as are shrooms and acid. Cocaine is available, but only the richest use it with anything approaching regularity. Lots of students use pills as study aids, at least that's what they claim the pills are for, but harder stuff like meth or heroin is almost nonexistent on campus. The conventional wisdom is that if you want to find a drug or a group of people who use a certain drug, you'll probably be successful, but if you don't, except for beer (and sometimes pot), you really won't have much experience with other drugs. Users tend to be somewhat responsible, and very circumspect, which is largely because the College is incredibly tolerant about pot and alcohol and hard on anything else.

Drugs aren't a necessity for a social life at Pomona; more often than not, they're an escape from a sometimes overwhelmingly-present social scene. Alcohol and pot are definitely mainstays of the social scene, but not the entire social scene. They can certainly be avoided if you want (especially if you live in a substance-free hall), but other drug use is generally geared toward escapism. The very fact that some students can attend Pomona for four years and be active and social and still have no idea of the extent to which drug use pervades the campus is proof positive that it's not generally that big of a deal. However, the grade would be higher save the prevalence of alcohol on campus.
