Facts & Statistics

Tips for Getting In
  • Be passionate about Pomona.
  • Get an interview with the admissions office.
  • Get really consistent and good grades.
Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming To School
  • Do as much stuff as possible! It is far too easy to be apathetic, both academically and socially at Pomona. Generally, the more you do, the better time you'll have.
  • Don't take any classes before noon. (Though it's totally doable.)
  • Dreadlocks, although tres façonnable, are itchy, smelly, and generally annoying to grow.
  • If you want to work with dolphins, you have to take bio classes, neurochem classes, psych classes, and cog-sci classes. Philosophy and English don't cut it.
  • Philosophy and English are fun, and they allow you, if you engage in them with vigor and verve, to be learned and yet still "cool." This lets you look down on all the naïve kids with nice haircuts and pressed pants taking computer science. However, the computer science kids are the ones to get $60,000 plus job offers right out of college. Then they can afford really nice pants. Who is feeling superior now?
  • The King's English: It's useful, and you're not going to learn it here.
Interviews & Information Sessions
Information sessions are held year-round and are offered Monday through Friday at 11 a.m. There are some Saturdays with noon information sessions. To schedule an interview, contact the admissions office at least three weeks in advance at (909) 621-8134.
Campus Tours
Tours are available throughout most of the year and usually last about an hour. They typically take place at 10 a.m., noon, and 1:30 p.m. No appointment is necessary, but the times do vary, so it would be a good idea to check out the Admissions website before visiting.
Overnight Visits
Prospective students in their senior year of high school can arrange to stay overnight. Overnight visits can only be scheduled when class is in session, and prospective students must call at least two weeks in advance. These students will be given temporary IDs and meal passes, and may accompany their hosts to class or choose other classes to attend from a list in the Office of Admissions. Visits cannot be scheduled in the period before exams or during any breaks.
