Majors: I love being a part of the Conservatory at Point Park. It gives me a lot of hands on experience and I can even work along side active professionals in the field.

College Sophomore

Majors: I have not had an internship. I do plan on having one next year and I know my professors will be willing to help me find one.

Parking: There is no on campus parking. Parking in Oakland is slim to none and expensive, unless you live in Oakland and have a parking pass then street parking is free but hard to find. Parking down town is expensive and hard to find. The parking meters that are near the school only allow a 2 hour limit.

Overall Experience: My overall experience so far has been good. The staff is great. They are knowledgeable, still work in the field and, help you find connections.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: Its Pittsburgh weather at its finest. Bitter cold winters, scorching hot summers and rain, sleet, and hail in between.

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: School shuttles are great and the public buses are really good.

College Sophomore

Greek Life: We don't have Greek Life at Point Park.

2 College Sophomore

Parking: You really cant park on campus without paying.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Food: The dinning is hall is really terrible. However, the Point Cafe is fine, that is until you get tired of eating chicken fingers and grilled cheese twice a day everyday for five months.

College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Drug and alcohol use is really noticeable, but that seems to be the case with most college campuses. The difference at Point Park is that the majority of people won't pressure you into doing something that you don't want to do, and will even stand up for those who find those few people who are being pressured.

Overall Experience: Overall I really enjoyed and that's really all I have to say about it.

Weather: This past winter was terrible. Everyone was so depressed and bored because it was gloomy outside. Even the little bit of green we have in the city was gray and dead. It was pretty sad with everyone staying in the dorms, and of course things hit the fan in terms of drama with everyone being cooped up for months.

3 College Sophomore

Administration: For a student who's breaking the rules the strictness is perfect, because its not strict at all. They keep us safe, but people do things like drink underage and make lots of noise all the time.

Off-Campus Housing: My school is smack in downtown Pittsburgh, which means no matter who you are, there are always going to be the problems that come along with sizable city. Parking is a hassle, apartments near campus can be really expensive, and some of the college age specific apartments can be a bit run down. But compared to finding housing in places like Chicago, Boston, or New York we have it easy.

Academics: Lots of people don't think of Point Park as a particularly good school for anything besides the performing arts, but this really isn't the case. Sure, the school is still coming up the ranks, but the school has very useful and impressive connections, and the programs/classes don't really get the credit they deserve. The staff in the communications department are all people who have been working in the professions we are training for. Not only that, but they are really good at what they do. The classes are realistic, we lean the skills we will really be using, and the professors and teachers don't sugar coat anything. The workload can be a lot sometimes, but that's to expected in my opinion, and the assignments really are relevant to what we are doing in class.

Moreover, the school as well as the individual departments go to great lengths to give students job and internships opportunities. They bring in experts to give lectures, they send out huge amounts of emails telling students about any and all jobs/internships that relate to their majors, and they set up job/internships fairs all the time. It's just a matter of students showing up and taking advantage of what the school gives us.

Academics: The majority of the professors are great. They know what they're doing and the make the classes interesting while making sure we really learn the information.

Guys & Girls: I'm not gonna sugar coat this, I go to school with some very attractive people. But many of them are also very nice people. For the most part, people in the dorms get along, and are even friends. I know on my freshman dorm floor, we all became really close. Sure, there are some people who don't socialize as much, but its not because nobody want to talk to them, mainly its a choice on their part. Which is OK.

Diversity: Diversity on campus is fantastic! There are a lot of international students, many of the ones I know are from the Middle East. It's a very accepting environment, surprisingly so. People really don't seem to care if your Jewish, like myself, Muslim, Gay, Straight, Bi-Sexual, Asian, Black, it really doesn't matter as long you treat people nicely and with respect.

Scholarships: Well I am not on financial aid, but I did receive scholarship from the school, and many of my friends are on financial aid. The best advice I could give besides keeping up your high-school GPA is call the school and ask questions. Find out what you can get, and what you have to to do to get it. Also, see if there's anything you can do to get a higher amount. The people in the financial aid/student accounts offices really seem to care and will do their best to help, you just have to ask them.

Health & Safety: I have always felt very safe on campus. I mean sure, could someone get in and could something happen if the person was really determined? Sure. But the same can be said for the majority of college campuses across the country. The difference between my campus and some other, in my opinion, is that Point Park is a small school and so its easier to look out for student safety. The school also takes safety very seriously, and I have always known that if something happened, or if I was feeling unsafe at any time, I could get in touch with someone and be taken care of.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: The bus around the city only costs a dollar with your student ID.

College Freshman

Parking: I do not park on campus. I leave my car in Florida.

2 College Freshman

Scholarships: The school is a private school so the cost is very high, the financial aid is not enough to really help cover tuition.

3 College Freshman

Administration: The campus is strict in the areas that it should be.

4 College Freshman

Party Scene: There are shuttles that run from Oakland to the University until midnight every night.
